Waiter that looks like from Philippines was rather rude in the service provided. We were shocked that he stopped my wife asking if we had paid that bill when we were leaving the restaurant. Totally unacceptable!!

I made the reservation in advance for my husband and I and two couple of friends, a month in advance, after my previous visit to Barcelona in 2022, when I was not able to eat at the restaurant, as I did not have a reservation at the time. So this time I have it and invite friends to join us. The place is beautiful, service is great, nevertheless our paellas were disappointing , They came completely cold; although the seafood that accompanied the plate was good, the rice was tasteless. I complained to two staff and get no response or apology while we were at the restaurant. Certainly it was not the experience I was expecting and will not recommend to friends.

I went here years ago and had a great experience; I'm not sure what's changed since then but the quality of the food and service has declined a lot.

Wonderful restaurant. I wanted to experience the restaurant that the Modernist artists frequented. Such a delightful ambiance, wonderful service, and excellent food, full of historical relevance.

The service was poor from the start. I’d say the worst I’ve had in a very long time. 4-5 servers were stopping by but no one took charge to take care of us. Took forever to get food and 2nd round of drinks. I finally had to go to the kitchen and ask for my check which was incorrect. I’d reconsider going there again. Several tables around us had the same problem, Amateur staffing!! No management of wait staff.

Els 4Gats was perfect for lunch tapas. A surprisingly delicious glass of chilled house white wine with a selection of croquettes, bread con tomato, and jamon Iberico really hit the spot on a hot August afternoon.

For this price I expected more according food quality. Nothing special except history and atmosphere of this place.

4 Gats is a little gem in the middle of the city. Ideal to meet friends or have a romantic meal. It fits the bill equally. I have eaten the lamb once in each of the last three decades and it remains the best I’ve ever eaten worldwide.

A stunning venue, but a terrible experience. We waited an hour and twenty minutes for pie starter which was underwhelming when it arrived. Both our main courses were poor. When we raised this with management there was not much apology but they did take off a third of the bill....frankly that was not enough as with just a couple of nights in Barcelona we felt we had wasted one. Furthermore, the toilet was in a shocking state (really disgusting). The venue is stunning and our waitress was doing her best but save your money and do not come for dinner....maybe pop in for a coffee to see the setting.

My first visit to El 4 Gats was in 2010. It was quite memorable so I wanted to bring my husband , sister, and brother in law on their first trip to Barcelona . We all enjoyed the food, the staff was great and the ambiance is very special. So glad I had the chance to return and share this wonderful restaurant with family !

This was our favorite meal of a trip that included stops in London, Barcelona, Cadiz and Lisbon. Great food, great atmosphere, great service, and in a great area of Barcelona. Highly recommend!

What an amazing experience! The food was so delicious, and the atmosphere was perfect...somehow relaxed and elegant at the same time. It is such a delightful find and I am looking forward to bringing friends back soon.

Perhaps it was bad timing, the restaurant has a cool vibe. Service staff seemed to disappear after taking our order and service was mediocre after our initial seating. The appetizers were good, the main meal was just ok, and nothing in comparison with all of the other great meals we had in the city.

We were recommended this restaurant for the ambience (not the food!) and that's exactly what we got! It is a great restaurant for the ambiance and the service. Unfortunately, the food was not up to the game. While three of us had a good meal, one of us who had ordered chicken barely touched it. Avoid the chicken dish!

My wife and I have eaten here twice, both times the experience was excellent. If you’re not a seafood lover, try the chicken with raisins and pine nuts.

The food was fairly good but the service was horrendous. Literally took calling back our waiter twice to take all of our drink orders. There were 6 of us. Our food did not come out at the same time (about 15 mins until all entrees were served). Clearly, this restaurant is riding on its fame and not on quality.

We were very much looking forward to dining at this historic establishment. The ambiance was just as desired, like taking a step back in to history. The live music was a lovely touch. Sadly, the food was extremely underwhelming. My dinner was so undercooked, I had to send it back, which I never do. After a few moments, my dish was returned and it was clear that they just put the dish back under the salamander, and did not further cook the meat as the dish was still pink and raw. I had to resend it a 3rd time to be able to get an edible bite. My partners dish was also lacking in flavor. Not at all the quality you'd expect for the prices or history.

The aubergine dish waa amazing as was the special pork dish. Great ambience Didn't have the waiters full attention but enjoyed the whole experience none the less.

We were with a group of ten and due to a mixup with the reservation, much too early (1.5h). Nevertheless, staff was kind enough to arrange for our table and took care of us during the evening. We had a wonderful time, lovely ambience, great food and fiery drinks.

This is real turistical place, a litle bit above the averages. Food quality is ok for eat but not for qualy and enjoy the culinary. Bad decision for people who expect a bit more L from Hungary

The food was underwhelming. Chicken was now white meat. Desserts were not worth the cost. The starter was cold. The bread was outstanding. Confusion w who was our waitperson. Overpriced.

Our university group traveled to Barcelona for a week. We decided to end our trip with a dinner at the four gats. It was an amazing evening, wonderful food, excellent service, beautiful guitar music… The perfect end to a trip! The beef ribs were amazing, and the desserts were out of this world.

We loved everything about Els 4Gats! Excellent food, amazing ambience, great service and really enjoyed the art history displays of Picasso’s paintings and drawings! It’s like eating an elegant meal in a museum. Will definitely dine there again when in Barcelona and highly recommend it. Was one of the highlights of our trip!

The design of the restaurant is nice, spreading the atmosphere of other times. Unfortunately the cleanliness level of the restaurant is very low. When we were about to finish our food, we saw a HUGE cockroach on the wall and it fell on the floor, right next to another table. We have immediately stopped eating and Before paying, we decided to tell the waitress about this and with a natural attitude she replied: We know about this issue, we have used some powders and now they are starting to get out. With this kind of issues, for the health of the customers, the restaurant should be temporarily closed. On our way out, there was a broken glass on the floor and no one even tried to clean it up. Very disappointed, especially that the prices are quite high. I cannot even say that I was expecting higher quality services for the money paid, but I was expecting a clean kitchen (the door was opened on our way out) and a clean restaurant.

Excellent food, superior service, and old world atmosphere made for the perfect evening and meal for my husband and I. The live music was a lovely touch, and we appreciated the perfectly appropriate volume of it. We enjoyed the mixed salad, the croquettes, the ribs, and the Filet Rossini. Excellent bottle of wine, as well! Would highly recommend.

Terrible restaurant. Nobody bothered to check our reservation or take us to a table. We had to keep asking. Finally got an awful table which we managed to change. Nobody served us until we insisted. No organisation as people after us got served first. My wine was a very short measure. Food mediocre and staff totally indifferent. One of the worst restaurant experiences of my life.

Best place to eat in Barcelona. Beautiful ambience, high quality of food, great and kind service. Definitely worth the money. I will be here again when I come back.

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel and was excellent in every aspect from the waiting area and dining room to the service and, of course, the food ending with the Picasso dessert. When back in Barcelona, it will be the first place we go.
