3/10Waiter had bad attitude very surely. Food very salty and cool vs hot. Had been told this was best pallea in Area but found it very disappointing. Taxi return to hotel was a disaster. Once we finished dining we waited on cab ordered by restaurant but they did not actually call. Very disappointing.

7/10It was my second time in this restaurant and I couldn’t find what i was expecting according to time first experience. My first visit was 8 years ago and i had an unforgettable dinner at that time. The paella was so ordinary and had no special taste at all. Sadly, it doesn’t deserve the money.

2.5/10we have been to this restaurant in the past and it has been very good. They are now living on their past reputation. The lights are too bright and blinding. They want to rush you to order food without ordering a cocktail first and relaxing. I asked for a martini and they brought something totally different. We paid for our drinks that finally arrived, even though we didn’t drink one of them. We got up paid for drink at the check in counter and left to go somewhere else. Lots of history with this restaurant, but now overrated and very poor customer service.

10/10Our group had a wonderful time at 7 Portes, food, crew and the ambience were great. I love the lamb, cheese cake and of course the paella! Having the piano music was a plus!

9/10This is a lovely, long-running restaurant in Barcelona. It has beautiful white table settings set in elegant rooms, with small plaques honoring famous people who have eaten there—we sat at the table of the famous tenor, Jose Carreras, and next to Picasso’s. The service was personable and conscientious. We had a green salad that had multiple kinds of very fresh lettuce and their signature paella. I missed the crunchy burned rice on the paella pan that I’ve had at other places, but this slightly damper version might just be a different style. It was cooked in a tasty broth and had a wealth of seafood and meat. If you want a special meal at a reasonable price, this should be a top choice.

6/10Staff were very nice and the beef was cooked to perfection. However, as starters we chose the recommended 7 small starters of the house and that was quite disappointing. Besides that, the lights in the restaurant are way too strong. In my opinion, this restsurant is average.

6/10The food was excellent but the service from our server was terrible. It was 20 minutes before a waiter came and just asked if we knew what we wanted. There were no glasses on table and we had to all for wine so he finally went and hit a wine list. It was 10 minutes before he came back with wine and dirty glass so he was gone another 5. It got so we didn't want to ask anything because it would take him so long to come back. Other tables were served quicker.

6.5/10The service was quite absent and it was difficult to get the waiters attention. Bread was charged even though it was not served and the waiter claims that it’s automatically charged. The food was not fantastic and it was over priced. The paella was too salty for my liking. All the food was just average and definitely over hyped. Overall, I think it is over priced for the food quality. The premises is pretty though, simply not attentive staff.

10/10The food was amazing! Well presented and in good quantity. I loved the traditional atmosphere of the restaurant which reminded me of my childhood. The service was absolutely outstanding, it didn't take a second to be attended with such a welcoming attitude from the waiters. I will most definitely be back.

2/10Racism & discrimination: a common theme recurring throughout the reviews – something we wouldn’t want nor expect, especially for a fine-dining restaurant marked with a 3 Euro price tag (unfortunately, we did). This is my first time leaving a review - hopefully, this could save people from having to go through this unpleasant situation in the future. I am attaching a past review reflecting our exact situation (there are so many of them) - to which they “publicly apologized and are taking feedback”: ironic how they replied to most of the reviews, but not a single apology mentioned in person. How it went: We walked in at 4:30 PM, and the host, a woman asked if we had a reservation, to which we said no. She then stated it would be an hour wait - surprising, given the half-empty restaurant, but we went ahead and waitlisted with my husband’s name. While we were waiting, my husband checked their reservation website, found a slot for 5 PM, signed up with the same name, and a few minutes later, the reservation was declined. So, I registered with my name and got a confirmation a few minutes later (perhaps my name sounds local?). We entered the restaurant around 4:55 PM. I showed up, and the lady, without a smile and looking a little annoyed, said: “I said 5:30!” I told her “but I have a reservation at 5,” and she insisted on 5:30. I reiterated my 5 PM reservation, and after checking the computer, she asked for my email. She then instructed us to wait for the table to be prepped (no apologies, no smile, still looking annoyed). I asked her why a table suddenly showed up. She grumbled, reluctant to give an explanation, but I pressed on. To this, she replied, saying they wanted to provide good service, hence the wait. But why would my 5 PM reservation be accepted and my husband’s 5 PM reservation be declined? If they aimed to provide good service, shouldn't they decline my 5 PM reservation too? The food was okay, a bit on the salty side, but the seafood content was generous - although many places serve better paella. Our server was alright, no complaints, but not exceptional — something we expected, given the wait for “good service” 🤣. Summary: consistent with other reviews, if you don’t look like a local and don’t speak Spanish, just skip this place to save yourself from a bad day. Many places in Barcelona offer better food and service at a cheaper price. To the restaurant, hopefully, service will be better for all future customers.

4/10Just a terrible experience .. not only for us, but for many tables around us. Seated immediately, was served water and bread... ordered wine and dinner... 25 minutes later.. still no wine and no waiter. We asked what was going on and told it would be solved. 5 more minutes go by.. still no wine, no contact. We walked out and told the front desk why. Truly disappointed.

3/10AVOID! Food was terrible. Service was slow, and on both starters at main course 1 of 4 people were left waiting while others had food served. Complained about one dish (because the server noticed I stopped eating after a few bites and asked what was wrong) and was simply told that the chef tasted it and they didn’t think anything was wrong with it.

7/10I was really excited to try 7 Portes, as it came highly recommended by multiple friends who'd been, but unfortunately I was pretty underwhelmed. My mom and I came here while visiting Barcelona and though the food was good (traditional cuisine; lots of fresh fish). the service was rather disappointing. We weren't acknowledged by anyone until maybe 10 minutes after we sat down, at which point we asked the host if someone could just bring us some water. Once meeting our waiter, things didn't get smoother; I don't think I saw him smile once throughout our meal. When we asked him questions about the menu, he seemed really disengaged and like he was looking around - which is understandable if you're very busy, but we came in at 3:30pm when the restaurant was beginning to empty out. Again toward the end of the meal, we had to ask the host if we could have our check since we hadn't seen our waited for 15-20 minutes. Maybe he was just having an off day! I would definitely like to give 7 Portes another chance next time I'm in Barcelona, but first impression wasn't the best.

10/10Excellent service and delicious food in a charming atmosphere, The restaurant is bursting with history with original tiles from the 1800s. You can snap a picture of an original Picasso, who lived in the same building as a young man.

8/10Pleasant surroundings in a long established restaurant,with live pianist.Due to our lack of Spanish and waiter’s lack of English I didn’t get the rabbit dish I ordered but all was resolved promptly and professionally.Good seafood paella my husband reported,and my rabbit with spiced rice was just what I hoped.Desserts all sounded appealing but I was too full.I could highly recommend the eau de vie and raisin sorbet from a taste of my husband’s.Not cheap,nearly a 100€ for two mains,one sorbet,a bottle of Albarino and water but good food,well and individually prepared and clearly a “proper” restaurant professionally run at all levels.
