A Cave is a real find - family operated and patronized by locals. It’s very unassuming from the street - you’ll walk one flight down to the restaurant and enter a nice dining area. The wait staff was great and spoke English - a big plus for us. We started with the charcuterie board and followed with tuna and octopus - all were excellent. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the local wines and paired our dishes nicely. I would recommend you consider A Cave if you want to experience a lunch/dinner away from the tourist areas while visiting Fatima.

This restaurant is a must visit, when you are in Fatima! Great service and such a welcoming and attentive team will leave nothing to be desired. The chef owner came out to give us a wine recommendation and I love his passion for the local (and absolutely fantastic) wine! The food itself was a delight and you would find yourself hard pressed to find this kind of quality for such reasonable prices. Seasoning was spot on and the dishes were cooked with great care. Thank you for this great experience and I will definitely drop by again!

It was a wonderful experience of epicurean excellence. Small restaurant with great service and culinary art level of earthy bites of home cooking. We had 4 dishes and all of them were delicious and amazingly prepared. The shrimps appetizer was fresh and seasoned to the best. The bread was freshly baked, crunchy and hot. Needless to say, we soaked up every drip of sauce on the plate. The secondi was Mediterranean Sea bass fillets. It was meticulously prepared with innovative and tons of flavor. As our host, Angelo, gave us the run down of this dish, I felt the sense of pride as a father telling you of his son’s soccer game. The fillets were cooked perfectly with crispy skin and tender flaky white juicy meat. It rested on a hump of delicious seafood pudding, with a careful swipe of garlic aioli on the plate. A poached cherry tomato sat on a pickled onion bench watching the show to start. All the while, a purple dusting of red cabbage lightly sprinkled around. The seafood pudding was a burst of flavor from the ocean, it had good texture and unpretentious. The pickled onion was a perfect balance to the richness of shrimp and clams. Then we had the short ribs. It was a 6-hour braising of a 12-hour marinade cut, The bone-in meat pieces were sat on finely puréed potatoes with a generous portion of rustic black eye peas and wilted cabbage. Just when we thought we are done with flavor town, Angelo brought over our dessert of Rice pudding. It was beautifully dusted with cinnamon over the not so traditional dessert, a quiet crispy rice paper chip sat proudly on top. The companion of the ice cream was a traditional arroz doce churned into a delicious ice cream treat. Very interesting of a show down to be the star of the show. The bill of this lunch was more than fair. We had a very enjoyable time.

The food was soooo delicious and our waitress, Natalie was so sweet and attentive. This hidden gem is worth a visit! The Salmon in pastry is a unique and delicious choice. My husband had the sirloin, which was perfect.

Perfect dinner. Delicious food, beautifully presented. The tuna dish, in particular, was absolutely amazing. The bread is brought to the table warm and crispy, as if it had just been taken out of the oven - wonderful detail. The service was very friendly and professional. Highly, highly recommended.

What a blessing this restaurant was after a day of travel. Our group of 9 can't stop talking about this restaurant. It was for most of us the best meal of our trip. Wish we could have gone back again but our travels took us away. Some of the members in my party are difficult to please at times but everyone is a raving fan. Every meal was cooked to perfection and the service was excellent. Looking forward to a return trip to Fatima and a meal at the Cave again.

A little gem hidden in a basement- thank you to the trip advisor faithful for the recommendation! The owner took our orders and did an exceptional job of explaining the menu and setting me up with a nice glass of wine - the menu is small - 6 meal choices - and we loved the steak and salmon choices - just the right portion size and the price was very good, sopped $40 Euro for two people with a shared dessert. Definitely a highlight of Portugal!

I cannot say enough about our dinning experience. The owner seated us, explained every dish and constantly checked to make sure everything was ok. Every explanation was right on the mark only to be exceeded by the actual quality of the food. A very memorable dinning experience, that everyone MUST experience. 5 stars from our family!!!

Food was very good, service super and ambience surprisingly nice in view of the immediate neighborhood, looked like a strip mall from outside. Beware, I asked for a glass of white wine. It was brought as about 10 ml and the bottle set next to it. I was told because it was hot only small portions were given so that it would stay cold...but kept adding 10 ml each time to point where I was charged for 2 glasses...but it was only 3 Euros per glass

Best choice! Fantastic service, amazing food, great staff and very good value for money. Lovely made Portuguese food of very high quality. Definitely super recommended..I ordered a coldfish and was fantastic. Vegetable soup with fantastic tasty olive oil. Best choices ever!

Where to start? From the moment we walked in, it felt like a warm bath. Attentive, amazing front of the house, who did everything and beyond to make us feel welcome. The food was excellent. The duck with the carrot purree was prepared wonderfully with nice balanced seasoning. The pork cheeks were cooked to perfection and the vegetables were in great harmony with the meat. If you have room for dessert (the portions are generous), try the chef's specialty, the crème brulee is divine. If you are in Fatima, Please stay away from the tourist traps and visit this beautiful place

O Cave was ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULAR! From start (shrimp appetizer) to finish (Lavender scented Creme Brulee) and everything in between, Tuna Loin and Filet with French sauce, everything was absolutely lovely. Reasonable prices (2 appetizers, 2 main dishes, 2 desserts, 1 bottle of Peregrine water, and a bottle of wine), ALL FOR 75 euros. The owner was charming and explained everything. Just couldn't ask for better dining experience. Get thee there fast.
