Appetizers were good; bread delicious. But fish was not cooked thoroughly, and spaghetti sauce tasted off. Disappointed, and wanted to like it. Service and sommelier’s help were good.

OK food and wine, and a competent and attentive sommellier. Service overall however, was poor, and far from in keep with what you'd expect at any restaurant, let alone at one within this price-bracket. We simply did not feel that welcomed or cared for. It somewhat ruined the rest of the experience.

We had the most beautiful family dinner here while visiting Trieste. The attention to detail in the food presentation was superb and the taste was spectacular.

+3The sommelier was outstanding, offering good advice on selecting a local wine and the opportunity to taste to make the final decision - an absolute star. Sadly the rest of the service was indifferent and slow, we felt abandoned in our corner. The food (the tasting menu) was good but not outstanding, although the cooking of the deer was absolutely perfect. We had the impression that they had a large party in the next room and that staff were under pressure. We would return but perhaps go to the a la carte menu if they were busy.

We had a fantastic dinner yesterday. The dishes in the degustation menu not only were creative with a modern touch, but also made from fresh products, with a vast variety of ingredients (our favorites of the great dishes were the ones in which dorade, deer, and mushrooms played the main role). Wonderful wine suggestions by Fabio (including a stunning Slovenian Malvazija at a fair price point). Grazie mille, we will for sure come back!

Apart from providing an intersting and inventive tasting menu, and a great choice wines, with interaction with staff was excellent.

Unfortunately the service we received let the whole experience at Al Petes down. The tardy service from the waiting staff which bordered rude at times from one individual was not what we wished to receive on an evening out with friends. Whilst we enjoyed ourselves, none of the 4 people at the table would return to that restaurant.

Quiet and elegant space for our party of 4 to dine in. Promptly seated when we arrived with our reservation. The pasta and clams dish that I ordered to start needed more flavour but my husband’s gnocchi dish was very flavourful. The grilled octopus dish was very well done, however the turbot fish dish that was served that evening was prepared as a “fish cake ring” that surprised our table and wasn’t quite explained that well. The servers seemed to be quite curt and abrupt with us and we it made us feel slightly like we were inconveniencing them. Overall felt the food was inconsistent for each dish (either great or not really) and experience was average.

I’ve been there before and it was excellent. This time I decided to try the tasting menu. It was incredible and well worth it. Every course was different and absolutely delicious. They have an extensive wine list as well. I’ve already made another reservation.

The food - from appetizers to dessert. - was very good. There were 6 of us and we all ordered something different. The wait staff were all top notch. Our waiter animated our desserts and coffee and was just excellent. The sommeleir provided great advice for dinner and dessert.

The truffle gnochi, amazing! Tge server brought out some different wines to try, just a great time.

Such a nice place. The food was good but i felt like discussing a wine choice was a little too much trouble. No matter in the end the wine was excelent.

Loved everything. The service was amazing and the marrow dish was one of the most spectacularly creative and delicious dishes I’ve tasted. Will absolutely be back for more when next visiting beautiful Trieste.

We were a group of six for dinner and the food was excellent. The staff were really friendly and knowledgeable about wine choices with a great explanation of some local white wines and their origin. Service got a little slower to the end of the meal as the restaurant filled up but we were enjoying ourselves too much to mind. Highly recommended.

The tasting menu was very very good. We especially enjoyed why pairing with the menu. Also, the whole ambience with only a few tables made the restaurant, cozy and enjoyable.

May have been an off night, we ordered the tasting menu and the food was very mediocre. Place was not crowded and service was slow. Disappointing.

Hidden away just off a walking path, this is a hidden gem of a restaurant. Their six course tasting menu was excellent and the sommelier suggested very good and interesting regional wine.

Nice place. Young lady gave excellent service and the sommelier was very good. Menu was imaginative. First courses of guinea fowl and veal were superb. A shared carrot dumpling was interesting. My main of goulash was very good (a little fatty), but my wife's spaghetti with clams was inedible: fishy and too much salt. Should try again, but with care. Bottle of local bubbly and 2 glasses of still wine and dinner = @ E155.

The food is good but very particular in its taste. So not recommended if you don’t like strong contrast. Otherwise good!
