Everything was perfect - the food, the service and the ambiance. This is a family owned and run restaurant that truly cares about the entire customer experience. The owner who works in the restaurant, brought out the chef, Anna Maria, Barbieri, so we could meet and thank her. We ate at three top rated restaurants in Modena over the weekend and this is the one that we agreed stands out from the rest.

If you visit Modena and you don’t come to Antica Moka and visit AnnaMaria and her staff you are doing it wrong. They are incredible and totally made my trip! This place is the definition of Northern Italian and Modena!

Traditional Modena cuisine served in a cozy and warm environment with a very professional service. Price is a little bit high but it definitely deserves it.

From the moment we arrived until we entered our taxi to leave, service was attentive and welcoming. My wife has mobility issues. Staff were quick to assist her with the steps. We chose their traditional recipes tasting menu, the recipes from Nonna. Each item was sophisticated, special and delicious. They offer more than one tasting menu. Wine pairings were well thought out and tasty, many local wines. Staff were knowledgeable regarding both food and wine and readily answered questions. Decor was inviting and seating comfortable. We were charmed. Good recs attracted us and our meal met and exceeded the recs. We were charmed and spent a lovely evening. The tables were filled and all seemed to be enjoying themselves. We would go back in a heartbeat when in the area next.

One amazing place in Modena resembling the traditions and the beauty of the city of Enzo Ferrari and Luciano Pavarotti. Indeed very very stylish, elegant, unique…when you arrive you feel like you step into the aristocracy of Modena. The ambiance is truly lovely and very classy. The service is beyond great. The food choices and the food presentation simply awesome. It is a magical experience and I would be back for sure. Grazie mille Antica Moca for this sensational and indeed amazing moment of La Italianità! Forza Ferrari sempre!

+2A friend of ours who learned cooking in Siciliy told us we really had to try out this place (even though he had never been there). We had a bit of trouble getting there via Castelfranco Emilia, but it was well worth the fuss! The service, the atmosphere and the food were all superb and surpassed all our expectations, including the wine pairings, all focused on local cuisine and viticulture. Definitely recommend this place to anyone staying in the region; we’re trying to squeeze another visit during our stay in Bologna !

Wonderful room, good food, great service. Somewhat inconveniently located outside of Modena, requiring expensive taxis if you're to enjoy the fabulous wines on offer.

Excellent inventive food but with traditional methods and local ingredients. Long but well chosen wine list. Quite formal service but friendly. The Nonna still cooks in the kitchen. Burrata and lobster was outstanding

The restaurant was beyond our wildest dreams from walking into the elegant dining room to having each dish presented with flair from each of the wait staff. Pleasant & engaging they all were ! The biggest treat was when Anna Maria stepped out of her kitchen to meet my husband….she capped a perfect visit. We are coming back soon!

Incredible experience. We had the burrata with lobster and the smoked salmon as starters. Both incredibly delicious. As a main we chose the pork as well as the tortellini della Nonna Sarita and we absolutely loved both. For dessert please choose the custard cream with almond wafer. It’s so delicious! We definitely will be back!

We are on a culinary trip in Italy and this was without a doubt one of the good surprises of the trip. Excellent restaurant !!! Creative and very tasty food! Some of the dishes are iconic and we would return just for them. The atmosphere is very good and the service is excellent. We really could not understand why there is no commendation in the Michelin guide to this great restaurant. We really enjoyed and want to say a huge thank you to the chef for a perfect evening.

This was our favorite meal in Modena over the last several days and we have been to a handful of the most popular fine dining restaurants. Molto buono!!!

Excellent dinner with great attentive service. Every dish was delicious. We tried three different pastas which were all awesome. The langoustine risotto was out of this world. The chocolate tortellini was outrageously creative and memorable. Would love to come back.

The most amazing food we had in Italy and probably ever. This restaurant is up there with the best. I cannot overstate how good the Antica Moca is. It was a pleasure to eat there, it was a pleasure being a guest there. The staff is really polite, they are competent and they love working there (as far as I can tell). We had the traditional menu with 5 courses and a dessert plus two greetings from the kitchen. Every single dish was something special and amazing. At times I actually had tears of joy in my eyes. I also had the wine tasting menu, which Waldo was very pleasant. Every one of the seven served wines were delicious. If have the chance to eat here, do it. Even if you have to drive two hours to get there. Best restaurant I have visited to date.
