10/10Really lovely restaurant with excellent food. Would really recommend the suckling pig. It was fantastic. The service was excellent and the staff very friendly.

10/10This was our fourth visit to the restaurant. We wouldn’t miss it! The owners/chefs welcomed us back, and the incredibly attentive waitstaff made us feel like family. We were served the best tortellini we had in Italy. The Strauchon Family

10/10Really excellent place, a little “off the beaten track” but still a relatively short walk from the Plaza Maggiore area. Delicious and imaginative food, fantastic wines, and above all amazing service. Highly highly recommend!

10/10Truly the best. Bologna is full of great restaurants but this is a cut above. Amazing food and friendly service. The pork was the best we’ve ever had. Thank you for a fabulous evening.

10/10We visited this restaurant on a Wednesday evening, even though it was a quiet night, service was attentive and quick. We enjoyed everything from beginning to end: appetizers were fresh and wonderful, we ordered 3 pasta dishes and thoroughly enjoyed the homemade taste and quality, the main course was suckling pig for 3; the meat fell off the bone and the skin was crispy…everything was extremely well executed. We had a wonderful meal and definitely a highlight of our Bologna trip.

10/10The best meals we had during our holiday was in this restaurant. Everything from the appetisers to the dessert was very delicious and flavourful. Also, the service was second to none - thank you Leo for the menu recommendation and making our dinner even more enjoyable! If you are visiting Bologna, book yourself a table at this restaurant, you won't regret it.

10/10Menu is always different and the food is flawless. Atmosphere is warm and comfortable. This week the first courses, pastas and risottos, featured mushrooms: chanterelles, porcini and truffles. Try the roast suckling pig for two or three persons. Definitely a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

6/10The restaurant was nice, food good but disappointed by being changed €10 per person for antipasti when only two people wanted it ( charged for 4 people ) then we all had the suckling pig but realistically there was only enough for two Overall we were all left feeling slightly ripped off as we’re tourists

10/10incredible food, service, and ambiance. The chef has been there since 1979 and it has been a restaurant since the 16TH CENTURY! Special and not touristy. You will cry. get the antipasti to start. best meal of our week (and many meals) in Italy

10/10Traditional cuisine of the Romagna is updated with flair and imagination. The menu is always different; perfectly done risotto, suckling pig, a beautiful branzino crudo this evening and the best sorbet in Bologna. A lovely space too. Check out the New Yorker style magazine covers by the owner’s son who is as talented a chef as he is an artist.

10/10What an incredible find! My family and I really enjoyed dinner. It was in a small intimate venue that was exactly the right size for "tired of crowds" travelers. The restaurant was busy but quiet and we were taken care of impeccably by our server. Everything was done professionally and we were guided to some of the best food of our trip by our server. I recommend the restaurant wholeheartedly!

10/10The best restaurant in Bologna by far!!!!! Just incredible food and atmosphere. The owner suggested wonderful dishes and his son is the chef. Not to be missed but it is only for food lovers and not normal tourists Normal tourists please stay away as this is a gem

10/10We went for a Friday lunch & had a starter, first course & second course with a bottle of wine and everything was delicious! I can say that it was so much food that we took some home. (The slow-roasted pork with roasted potatoes) Attentive service with out being intrusive, nice ambience & an all-around perfect meal. It was our first visit & we plan to go again. Highly recommend.

9.5/10Excellent Bolognese food from start to finish. No written menu, the waiter tells you the choices which are local and seasonal - about 4 primi and secondi and dolce. Very rich and flavoursome, the tortellini and roast suckling pig stood out. The service was friendly and knowledgeable - good wine recommendations. Prices are extremely reasonable.

10/10A great restaurant, very well worth the extra walk as it is just outside the central area. The food was excellent with a choice of really fresh ingredients, cooked superbly and served with real pride and enjoyment at our pleasure in eating it. From the wine list we had delicious wines which were also very good value. Will definitely go back when we are next in Bologna.

10/10The restaurant looks unprepossessing from the outside but a place not to miss. The staff were very good and one waiter spoke excellent English. The menu was not written down but each dish explained to us in detail which was a little difficult to remember. There were 4 of us, each having a different starter but shared part of a suckling pig which was put in the middle of the table, with roast potatoes, for us to help ourselves. It was delicious. Will definitely visit again next time in Bologna.

9.5/10Well removed from the principal thoroughfares that teem with good but fairly predictable, standard places which serve cucina alla bolognese Antica Osteria Romagnola offers something different and, dare it be uttered, emphatically superior. Their dishes are true to old, traditional recipes and the quality of the materials and their preparation is more than worth the detour. The maitre d’ takes pride and care in explaining the precise nature and method of preparation of each dish and equal pleasure in seeing his patrons’ enjoyment of the food. Perhaps a little more expensive than some others but easily worth the difference. Vaut bien le detour.

10/10We were visiting Bologna from the US and took a pasta class taught by Maria Grazia Azzaroni who recommended this restaurant to us. Since she was a native to Bologna, and she said this was one of her favorite restaurants, we felt we had to try it. It was absolutely perfect! Our waiter (unfortunately I can’t remember his name) was absolutely wonderful. He translated a large part of the menu for us because our Italian was not so good. He was funny and very animated when it came to describing their dishes. It made it very difficult to decide what we wanted to try because he made everything sound so good! What we finally settled on was absolutely delicious, as I am sure were all the other dishes. The restaurant was lovely. It was the quintessential Italian trattoria, nicely appointed, great service. It was the perfect ending to our time in Bologna and we can’t wait to come back.

9.5/10Although our first time in Bologna, this restaurant has an old school feel that is a refreshing respite from the trendier restaurants popping up all over Emilia Romagna. Not that there is anything wrong with that but in my mind, it's what you come here for. Classic dishes perfectly prepared. No written menu, just the waiter describing in great detail what our choices were. While everything was delicious, the slow-roasted suckling pig was one of the best things I ever ate. Make this a stop on your next visit. All will be happy.

8/10The restaurant came recommended. Pros: Niche restaurant, personalised service, food was nice but not exceptional. Ambience was good. The tapas were v nice especially the caramelised onions, black olives with lemon rind and tomatoes with garlic. Cons: The biggest drawback is that there is no printed menu so especially if you are visiting and new to the place - even though the staff roll off the menu items verbally, you have no idea of the cost of the dish and ‘the extras’ which are getting charged. Example as we are vegetarians a tagliatelle starter was suggested with a truffle shaving. The tagliatelle itself was €12 and a separate charge for the truffle shavings for £10! If there was a printed menu we would have decided whether to order or not. This was not mentioned when the starter was suggested. Anyways, lesson learned!!! Overall, it was an ok experience.

10/10Kind staff, really concerned about making sure that you had a good time. Spaghetti with clams, then braised beef in wine sauce, all first rate; but the semifreddo (a little cup, brought on the house after the meal) was the very best.
