The setting is atmospheric and historic. The staff was welcoming. We arrived early for our reservation and were easily seated. The meal was of good quality, the bread basket was generous, both meat and fish dishes were delicious. The restaurant was festively decorated for the Christmas holiday.

We eat here once a week after our Dutch class and find it hard to go anywhere else because the week menu is such good value and quality - currently 16.95E in the cafe. The starters are always quite imaginative - one week we had papaya and shrimps, this week it was carpaccio and sun dried tomato mousse. We like it that they always have vegetables with the main course - usually stir-fried and we don't get fries every week sometimes rice. Dessert can be just ice cream but sometimes more interesting and usually with fresh fruit - last night it was red currants, blackberry and passionfruit with blackberry mousse. The waiters are nice and patient when we insist on murdering the Dutch language!
