Delightful service , good food but a weak entrecote

We loved this little restaurant. The food was great and the two young guys who wait on the tables are very efficient but also welcoming and relaxed. It was a really nice experience. If you are visiting Beaune, we would recommend this restaurant.

A delightful dining experience. Dishes precisely cooked and richly satisfying. Service attentive and charming. Wine list extensive and well judged. All in all, a highly enjoyable evening and a strongly recommended address.

My sister and I visited this restaurant in 2019 and loved it. We are visiting in Beaune again this year and made a special effort to make a reservation at Le Coq Bleu. We were not disappointed. From the moment we walked in, service was top notch, friendly and efficient. The food was absolutely delicous…I had the boeuf bourguignon and my sister had the coq au vin…nicely presented and everything done with a smile! At the end of the meal, the chef/owner came over to say hello and we had a chance to catch up since our last visit. We will definitely go back again before we leave!

This is such a cute place; not many seats so reservations are a must!! The food was outstanding and the service was also outstanding! We enjoyed the wine list very much as many bottles offered are from the region AND available by the glass, so we could enjoy glasses from other wineries we hadn’t time to visit this trip; almost like a mini tasting with dinner included!

Excellent wine list. Staff was friendly and helpful. The food however seemed to rely on fat and cream (pork knuckle and chicken), and we left feeling disappointed and bloated. So many great restaurants in Beaune, I wouldn't recommend working for a reservation here.

The food was traditional French cooking. It was amazing and just what we were wanting to taste. The staff and chef were very attentive and made out dining experience exceptional! Oh! Not to mention the desserts were very decadent… chocolate molten cake with ice cream. Scarlett the dog was a definite plus.

We booked prior to visiting Beaune which was wise as the restaurant was full for lunch and mainly locals, people were being turned away. The service is excellent and the food was too. We had a superbly prepared and presented Steak Tartare with additionally condiments to adjust to your taste preference and a lovely Beef Bourguignon. Also a wonderful trio of mini desserts. Of course being in Beaune there is an extensive wine list!

Great restaurant in the heart of Beaune old town. The food is excellent and the service friendly and efficient. The staff are knowledgeable regarding wine and provided us with excellent advice on we might like to drink with our meal. Recommended.

The waiter inquired as to our preferred timing for the main which was appreciated. Both meals were lovely - beef and chicken.

Wonderful traditional country French food. Had a hard time to choose, so many I want to try. Had curry escargot and pork knuckles with white wine sauce, both excellent, wine list is very extensive, really enjoyed!

Small, buzzy place with good food and great service. We particularly appreciated the option of enjoying virtually all of their wine list (around 80 wines) by the glass - even many fine wines. We made full use of this opportunity/ sampling 6 different wines between us.

The size of the restaurant was perfect, cosy and calm. The service impeccable - with a smile, happy and courteous. The food was brilliant, we had all traditional dishes with boeuf, coq. A great experience!

The food was only average; the choice of some great wines by the glass was outstanding. We decided to eat only hamburgers if we went back. The wines by the glass are carefully preserved by a gs like nitrogen.

It was a very warm evening in Beaune and we were shown to our table inside which was perfectly fine but we asked if it was possible to have a table outside as it was such a lovey evening. Sadly, there was no room, but after 20 minutes, a table became available and we were very kindly moved outside where there was a bit more air. Lovely people, friendly and professional. Great wine, of course, and a good menu. Food was delicious. The owner and chef came out at the end of the evening to have a chat with everyone, which was a nice touch and made it very personal. I would highly recommend this lovey little restaurant in the centre of Beaune.

Such a let down. We were really disappointed with this restaurant. We have eaten all over France and Europe and always opt for the local dishes and generally, this serves us well but unfortunately this did not happen at ‘au coq bleu’. We ordered the local ‘jarret de porc’ with a cream and white wine sauce. We expected a nice flavourful creamy sauce with a nice joint of meat. In reality, we were served an incredibly fatty joint of meat, literally sat in a pool of fat and cream, which was clearly splitting. Bit being local to the area, or indeed the country, we foolishly apologised for ordering the wrong dish and re-ordered, accepting responsibility for the poor food. In hindsight, it was a dreadful meal, badly cooked and no decent chef would have sent it out. We just wish we’d taken photos of it to show how bad it was. In contrast to this, the staff were very understanding and the wine was superb. They knocked off one of the pork dishes but really, we should have insisted on both.

Vous avez commandé deux jarrets de porc sauce à la crème et au vin blanc aligoté. Vous nous avez dit vous être trompés sur votre choix sans nous dire la critique que vous avez écrite.Nous avons accepté votre erreur et vous avez commandé une entrecote et un coq facon gaston gérard qui vous ont été servis en remplacement et dont vous avez laissé les assiettes vides!. Vous avez mentionné vouloir payer ces deux jarrets en raison de votre erreur de choix. Les patrons ont pris la décision de vous offrir l'un des deux jarrets comprenant votre erreur sur la langue française. Pour votre information le jarret se sert entier avec sa couenne que l'on choisit de manger ou non. Nous regrettons que vous n'ayez pas eu le courage de nous dire en face vos reproches et notons une lacheté gratuite dans votre commentaire. cordialement . la direction .

Delicious food. Wonderful people. Such a great place that the staff has trouble keeping up (eg., remembering to be drinks, until reminded when meal arrives). Would go back as the people are friendly and food is delicious!

This was a superb dinner in a lovely setting. We could not fault the meal, wines were great with plenty of selections available. The chef came out to greet each table and check how we enjoyed the food.

The food and service were excellent. We really enjoyed specialties like Coq au Vin and Beef Bourgingon. Nice wine by the class list. Sat outside on a nice quiet street. Would recommend!

The service and food were outstanding at Au Coq Bleu. The coq au vin was delicious, as was the Vegatable salad. The frites were equally delicious!

Great food in a beautiful town. We were greeted the minute we walked in, we had pre-booked which is a good idea as this is a very popular restaurant. We ordered rose which was lovely, Boef bogegnon which was the best I’ve ever tasted and the pork dish which came with a delicate sauce, fries and salad. The chef owner came out at the end of the meal and Jean was delightful. A very talented. Her. All the serving staff were particularly helpful and spoke really good English. Would recommend to anyone. Thanks Coq Blu one of my best meals.
