10/10This was our favorite meal during our 10 nights in Italy. We loved everything about this restaurant, from the cozy atmosphere to the amazing food and wonderful service-- truly an experience and not just a dinner. Although I am not a vegetarian, I appreciated that there were plenty of options if you wanted to have a vegetarian meal. The chef/owner has perfected his art, and the only negative is we spent the rest of our trip comparing every meal to this one!

10/10Great intimate dinner experience. Warm welcome from the host in cosy dining area. Comfortable setting for a date with some fun decor choices ;-) Now for the food, so refreshing to see both BORGO’s mission statement and menu. Finally a place that uses local and seasonal ingredients and delivers it on a tailored menu. Very nice change from the washed out standard menu. Each dish was made with love and very well executed, perfectly delivering the autumn flavors. Thank you for the passion and nice recipe twists that made our dinner a great pleasure.

9.5/10The owner, Gabriele, is friendly, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable. Most things are made at the restaurant from scatch with excellent ingredients. The place is small and quiet, furnished in a slightly vintage style. But Gabriele is the waiter, host, and cashier. When It's busy, it takes him a while to take orders, so you need to be patient. Last night was he didn't bring us bread, which is usually the second thing Italians put on the table. .

10/10If you're looking for an amazing experience and delicious food, this is the place for you. It was an intimate, once-in-a-lifetime experience where the owner personally catered to every need and desire. He was delightful, and his food truly brought the entire experience together. Everything was delicious and fresh and unique! We loved the ambiance, despite the traffic going by this cozy, little spot. We couldn’t help but fall in love with the place! A true favorite on our trip to Italy!

10/10Unforgettable, delightful, delicious food, charming vibe. Little place with a handful of tables but a big welcome. Gabrielle made us feel very at home and is very passionate about his food, that passion definitely made it's way onto the plate, best meal we had in Firenze, this place is just awesome and was a very special treat, not to be missed. Local produce, lovingly selected with some nice little twists and surprises on a menu where you pick anything in any order. Highly recommended and lots of fun!

9.5/10Chef-owner Gabriele was very attentive and happy to share the culinary secrets to his dish preparations. The rabbit roulade was tender and delicious wrapped in prosciutto and stuffed with chanterelle mushrooms touched with thyme and accompanied with whipped potatoes. The chickpea pancake with vegetables was delightfully presented and my vegetarian wife found it superb. A bottle of Vermentino wine suggested by Gabriele provided the perfect accompaniment. Try BOrGO—it’s not like all the others.

10/10Best meal in Italy. Host had peak Robin Williams vibes and served an amazingly inventive meal. The linguine with burnt onions was a standout. Wine list was compact and excellent. Would go back without any hesitation.

10/10BORGO is a tiny, quiet restaurant with a small menu of excellently prepared dishes. My friend ate an excellent duck breast and I had rabbit roulade, and we finished dinner with a cherry sundae and cheesecake. The owner is the server, giving his guests a warm welcome and attentive service. We'll go back.

10/10Had this not been recommended we would have walked straight past. It’s completely understated but the moment you walk in, the welcome, the ambience, the food is exceptional. If you are looking for delicious unusual dishes with a chef who is passionate about ingredients, this is your place. We loved the dessert with no name - the chef couldn’t find a name that would do it justice.

10/10Our dinner at BOrGO was hands down our best meal in beautiful Firenze. Gabriele’s dishes were inventive and made with so much love and care. Gabriele was also a wonderful and generous host. I highly recommend taking some friends and having a proper Italian meal here - order some appetizers, a pasta, a secondi and a dessert with some wine. Linger over the beautiful food and engage Gabriele in some conversation if he’s not too busy. The passion he has for his food will only enhance your meal experience. And if you will be visiting the Dolomites on your trip to Italy ask Gabriele for some recommendations. Grazie Gabriele, for a truly amazing and unforgettable meal!

10/10The proprietor is full of delightful energy, going out of his way to make his guests comfortable. We showed up a bit frustrated because of GPS misdirection, but he put us at ease immediately. And oh my lord, the pasta! I will never forget the tagliatelle. Excellent meal.

10/10An exceptional dining experience with charming ambiance and a hands-on owner who cares deeply about creating memorable meals. This was our third visit to Florence and B.O.r.G.O. in two years and we will continue to book a table here every time we return. Gabriele is passionate about serving high quality farm-to-table food at reasonable prices. My husband very much enjoyed his duck terrine and I savored every morsel of the "daily special" asparagus pasta dish. It was a pleasure to see Gabriele once again while appreciating the masterful recipes of this hidden gem!

10/10+2This is a not-to-miss experience. Gabrielle, head chef / maître d' / and your server, invites you into his space in a warmly lit, 8-table restaurant. A welcome note and the menu begin your experience. The handwritten menu conveys the seasonal rotating menu with fresh ingredients purveyed from local growers, farmers, and meat mongers. Accidentally, we ordered a completely vegetarian meal, but the food was so delicious, we hardly missed the meat. To begin, he presents an amuse bouche is presented to each person at the table and teases the taste buds. Everything we ate showcased Gabrielle’s imaginative take on flavor, preparations, and adaptations such as a vegetarian bone marrow; Potato skins adorned with a mushroom filling, for example. Down to the delectable dessert menu, we left feeling as if we had just had an experience. That’s what this was. Get here.

10/10After 10 days in the Tuscany region and sampling food in multitudes of restaurants in 9 cities/towns, B.O.r.G.O is by far a standalone gourmet experience that delivers local cuisine on a chic level with home cooked flavors. A little off the main tourist area, but definitely a must. And what can be called a one-man show, owner/chef Gabriele is as vibrant and welcoming a host can get without being overtly intrusive. Hats off!

10/10This is a really different restaurant and serves dishes that are novel, extremely well prepared and crafted, and above all delicious. Gabriel the owner and chef does front of house too and enthusiastically answers any questions you may have on his dishes presented on home made menus. This is certainly as good as some Michelin standard restaurants we’ve eaten at before in terms of the food, but without seemingly the now obligatory theatre and inflated prices. If you want something different, try this little gem.

10/10What a special experience! A creative and talented chef not only makes the food, but serves it himself with pride. He is friendly and down to earth with a kind sense of humor. The nutritious and delicious chick pea pancake (I think the menu decribes it as a pie) was beautiful to look at, a visual party of brilliant spring colors. The tastes and textures of spinach, Brussels sprouts, and asparagus, with pumpkin seeds for crunch and a little yogurt sauce in the center were in perfect harmony. Delicious. I nibbled and crunched my way through a tasty dish of chicken teriyaki with a subtle twist. There was a generous portion of thin crisps of fried Jerusalem artichoke and and a few pretty leaves of purple cabbage on the plate, with mayonnaise for dipping. It was all so special and good that I had to try the dessert. I was not disappointed by the pear poached in red wine and coffee with some ricotta cheese and honey on the side. I have had very few meals in my life that were this memorable. You should try this restaurant!

10/10Gabriele was wonderful and the whole ambience of this restaurant was so charming and wonderful. The meal was just as amazing. My fiancé and I are still talking about the guinea fowl ravioli, rabbit roulade, and pork dish with purple potato purée. This was probably the best meal we had in Italy, but definitely Florence. It was a nice change from the classic pasta and pizza, and the flavors were incredibly impressive. Gabriele is very busy and talented, and does most of the work. He was so sweet and personal. We made friends with another table and closed the place down, and he was so patient with us. We, of course, continued to spend money while we held him up. He’s a hard worker and deserves recognition. Please go try this local, unique, and well constructed menu! You will not be disappointed! Gabrielle

10/10This restaurant is a gem - wonderful for celiacs and those with gluten intolerance as well as more traditional eaters. Fantastic inventive menu with many vegetarian options as well - not the same dishes as in so many restaurants in Florence so if you’re looking for something new with great and friendly service, come here!

10/10We had been to B.O.r.G.O five years ago during our last trip to Italy, and were so pleased to find the restaurant survived COVID. It again topped our restaurant list during this most recent visit to Florence...eating their multiple times! B.O.r.G.O is a small, friendly, local, farm-to-table inspired restaurant. The Chef both hosts and helps prepare the meals, and is a delight. The menu is an ingenious blend of unique and comforting dishes, differentiating itself from the more common Italian cuisine found in most of Florence's restaurants. Thanks Chef for the special memories!
