We enjoyed our evening in Bica,Velha. Antonio made us very welcome. The food was delicious, Portuguese tapas, small very tasty potions. Excellent choice of wines from Algarve. We chose a lovely house white. Lovely ambience. Great music playing. No hesitation in recommending this restaurant

10/10We went twice during our stay in the area. They made our second visit even better than the first. Arranging for favourite dishes to be recreated and others made specially for preferences.

10/10Very friendly and warm welcome of the staff. Great atmosphere and excellent food. Working with local Portugees products and bringing their own twist to it. It was in one word “excellent “. I would really recommend this place.

Lovely setting in a cellar Food was outstanding we all shared tapas and wine was excellent staff were friendly and explained the wines perfectly Pork cheek and sardines our favourite On the downside no children’s options and was very hot in the restaurant Toilets need updating

Very attentive hosts, cosy atmosphere; perfect English of the waitress made ordering easy and quick. The food exceeded our expectations (since at first it seemed like a simple restaurant by the road). Yet all the dishes were so good we will definitely be coming back next time we are in Portugal.

10/10"Last night, my wife and I had an incredible dining experience at Bica Velha. Every dish was packed with bold, vibrant flavors, and their chili sauce was hands down the best I’ve ever tasted—just the right amount of heat, perfectly balanced with rich spices. The service was exceptional, with attentive staff who made sure we had everything we needed. It’s a place we’ll definitely be recommending to friends and family!"

9/10lovely cozy setting, good music, friendly, informative, attentive servers. The menu was 5apas, which we weren't expecting - certainly not tapas pricing - €18 pork cheek ( which was delicious, but only three small pieces), a tiny quail for similar price and fava beans with chorizo, again really tasty. We were offered olives and bread to start with, which came with two jars of humous, one was beetroot - again quite nice. Unfortunately we didn't really have time to enjoy them as our tapas were brought out quite soon after. We did enjoy a reasonably priced bottle of wine also. Followed this with coffees all for £73. An enjoyable evening!

6.5/10The restaurant provides a beautiful atmosphere with authentic Portuguese food. The service has room for improvement. No starter, desert and coffee and digestive was offered. The staff could be more active/caring for the guests.

10/10The atmosphere was immediately inviting. Situated town a quiet street near the castle, this restaurant is a jewel! The welcome was warm and we felt right at home. Menu is varied and fresh, with local ingredients used to perfection. Local Algarvian wines were recommended and we ended up taking another bottle home with us, we enjoyed it so much. We will definitely return. Thank you!

10/10We stumbled into this gem a week ago. I liked the intimate atmosphere combined with the original Portuguese decor. Our return visit for dinner did not disappoint. The service was attentive despite how busy the restaurant was. The tapas were a combination of traditional and innovative flavours. I strongly recommend the octopus tentacles which was delicate to the palate and incredibly tender. We also digged into the bean salad with sun dried tomatoes which was a triumph of saltiness balanced with a hint of oranges It was our last night dinner in Loule but we are definitely going to make this place a regular stop next year. Brilliant!

8/10Some food items that were not listed on their board but were mentioned verbally but not to all, at least not to me.. for example they had a octopus dish that I would loved to tried but bec it was not listed or mentioned got other items but 10 minutes later I hear it being told to others. Also owner/waiter had mentioned not to charge for couvert bec it took a while n our entrees came out first but when the tab arrived it was charged to me… I didn’t even bother to say anything.. all in all food was good, service time could be a bit better

We had a dinner in Bica Velha previously and it’s always a pleasure to come back! The food, cocktails, vibes, staff are fabulous! This time we had free range chicken with organic oranges, it was delicious! Also, the lentils, don’t know how they make them so good, but I need a receipt! They also have amazing cocktails, my favourite is espresso martini! We will be back again soon! Thank you so much for doing amazing job!

I loved this restaurant! The food is served tapas style and changes daily depending on what is fresh and available. The staff is attentive and informative. They play great music that adds to the Mediterranean ambience.

10/10We have been four times and it never fails to disappoint! We enjoy the ambience and the staff are all super friendly and attentive. We always bring our overseas guests here for a little slice of the algarve, because we know Bica Velha won't let us down.

10/10Our server, Mia and the other gentleman, were excellent. They knew their menu and wine lists. They were so helpful and wonderful. This was a "Dinning Experience". We will be back.
