3/10Very disappointing meal. 4 small plates. The cornbread was excellent but expensive. The green beans were chargrilled and OK, but expensive. The spatchcocked quail, also chargrilled, were over-charred in places and were served with a an oddly flavoured butter on the side which did not work for us as an accompaniment. The sushi dish still had ice crystals in the fish. We sent it back paid the bill and left. The wines were unimpressive and expensive for what they were. Overall a disappointing experience

10/10This unique small restaurant was a great experience. I was alone but it would be a great place to share small plates and try a variety of special flavors. Staff was great at describing the food to someone struggling to choose!

4.5/10I would never come back. Good quality food but way too expensive for what you get. 3 “dishes to share” and 2 glass of wine for 88€. Very long waiting time. I do not recommend it.

9.5/10Visited Boi-Cavalo for the first time, recommended by some friends. And a good decision it was! Very special cuisine, sharing options are the model, small quantity on each choice lets us taste a whole lot of delicious variety! All excellent options! Its a cosy place, with very friendly staff. Not the cheapest option to dine out but you will definitely come out very pleased with the experience!

9/10The menu is so creative and every dish is a surprise and beyond our imagination. The pairing of the iberian pork chop and caviar and creme just exemplifies our amazing experience at this restaurant. Our waiter that night is also knowledgeable and suggest a good light white wine for us.

9.5/10There wasn’t one single thing I tried that I did not like, but I would have to say the gnocchi with vanilla were my favorite. High quality, very inventive cuisine! The only thing I would say is that certain dishes are very small portions for the price… I ordered more dishes than their suggestions because otherwise I would be hungry.

9/10Very original concept, laid back yet professional and very kind service and above all the quality of the food (yet pricey) is outstanding in flavours, combinations and the superior presentation quality. The wine list is short but very caed for and original, why have to stock a fortune in 100 wines as many do if 20 really well chosen ones are more than enough ? It is a pity there are no portuguese clients just a few tourists, perhaps because the location is hard and the reestaurant´s marketing is too low key. But this may make it even more alluring, I find it one of the best restaurants in Lisbon

10/10Masterclass in flavor and texture. Have eaten at a lot of Michelin starred restaurants these guys can cook circles around. Don’t expect a team of waiters dropping dishes in unison, but who cares when you’re getting dishes that are this innovative yet still perfectly balanced.

10/10This is a really good restaurant. A short menu of small (actually mid-sized) plates. The excellent waiter advised us as to how much to order. We started with the homemade corn bread and pickles - teriffic. Then a boned mackerel with recado negro - beautifully done. Next some extraordinary "gnocchi" made with choux pastry in a vanilla broth, with a tuna powder, really unusual and good. Next rice with rose and chorizo, again unusual and brilliant. We drank a bottle of very good wine, Monociclo Aragones, a great and very reasonably priced recommendation from the waiter. Out of sheer greed I then ordered a lamb tartare on a deep fried friiter, Great again, while my partner had a creme brulee infused with olive oil and basil - also really good. It's a nice room buzzing but not too loud. 120 euros for loads of food and drinks for two. Thoroughly recommended. Booking essential.

9.5/10A very inconspicuous restaurant serving delectable food. Casual yet intricate. The monkfish on Tuscan kale was stellar but the real star of my dinner was the clams in green curry and foie gras. Who knew foie and clams go well together?! The wine list could use more options by the glass but the food is amazing! Definitely recommended.

9/10Not sure what I was expecting, but its a hidden gem. I almost missed it walking past, but glad we found it. Small menu, fresh seasonal food, massively creative, tastes were excellent. The place is basic (don't dress up) and small (maybe 20 covers). Food presentation was good, but the taste was excellent. I also discovered an excellent Pinot Noir from Portugal (Atlantico). Go there with an open mind and a desire to try something different. Loved the cornbread, the Pate brilliant, the clams in green curry sauce...but as the menu changes frequently I'm not sure what you'll find next. Have fun.

10/10How to put it in a very simple terms? We had the entire menu between my three friends and. I. Food was very good, using simple local ingredients and turning them into great dishes. Good selection of wine. Lovely space in old butcher shop if not mistaken. Great food, good atmosphere, and good price. Will be back

4/10I was hoping for the famed tasting menu with wine pairings but on arrival discovered this had been discontinued. The a la carte menu was short and uninspiring and despite not being an especially picky eater, managed to feature three things I don't eat. A couple of dishes weren't available. Another dish was €7 for dressed iceberg lettuce. Nothing much appealed so we left.

9/10we've been the 2nd time here. they seem now more established as before, food is still rock and roll, but maybe a bit less adventurous as before. we started with a homemade cornbread, going over a cold soup to some fish and squid, then we got a nice rice with rabbit followed by a meet croquette, followed by two sweet courses, ending with a sip of some "schnaps". we choose the wine pairing, here some wines were good some less...but a nice panorama what you can get (the wines were very natural, but rather simple). for the price you get a lot of very good food: if you are open for new combinations then this is the place to go. we will come again when hopefully again in lisbon in the next coming years.

9/10We really enjoyed the wine and food tasting menu. Every dish but one was interesting, flavorful and well-presented. A substitution was made for a quail dish which was replaced by French toast. This was baffling to me and I did not enjoy the dish. Everything else was wonderful. Be aware that Uber’s cannot get to this restaurant since it is in a restricted zone, so you need to take a taxi.

10/10Great!! We tried the tasting menu and the combination of flavours adapted to the concept and mainly the season was spectacular. Each dish complemented the previous one, perfectly. The explanation of each dish by the staff was a plus adding their profesionalism. Very nice environment. An experience to repeat!

9.5/10Phenomenal food. Unusual elements, varied, clever, and not "internationalized" but instead real Portugal -- bravo! Charming and knowledgable waiter, and excellent vine too. This restaurant is a solid "foodie" place, comparable to the best places in the USA, especially Oregon.

10/10I'm sorry, I don't talk French but I would like to give a comment in English: For us (my husband and me) it was a very, very fascinating evening- we liked everything. The interior, the music ( amongst others Foo Fighters and Velvet Underground!) but most of all the very nice service (she explained everything to us!) and the unbelievable very, very good food. Thank you for everything!

10/10It was a tasting menu with a difference. The team created such interesting dishes with great depth of flavours, all local and seasonal sourced food. It was the right combination of meat and fish dishes ending on a sweet dish, that you didn’t feel too over faced with too much food. Our waiter was very attentive and recommend some very interesting & delicious local wines. I would definitely recommend booking a meal.
