Not being fluent in Italian, restaurant menus tend to be of a challenge for me, however the staff were extremely helpful in guiding us through our meal choices and we had a superb meal together with a splendid Abruzzo wine.

Very likely the best restaurant I ever eaten at in my whole life!!! On our trip thru Italy, we have had some great meals but nothing compares to Buonvento, we’ve eaten there two evenings in a row and are probably eating there again tonight.

This is our go-to place when we are in Sulmona every year. Owners Stefano and Marco have created a relaxed, consistently good restaurant experience. Great wines too! A few of our favorite menu items are the Burrata starter, any of the pastas, and the chicken, sausage and lamb dishes are simple and delicious. Don’t miss it!!

Always a delight to eat in this restaurant. They have a limited menu which cycles so you know that everything on it is prepared fresh. They use local produce and the pasta dishes in particular are excellent. Local oils and wines are also off the highest quality.

This was our favorite dining experience during the two week visit to Italy. Incredible food, top notch service, great recommendations from our servers. We went twice to dine! We speak no Italian and the whole establishment was very friendly and accommodating.

We were looking for a taste of Italy's history and tradition, and this was perfect. This spot takes you back with its historical setting, great food, and excellent service. The prices are also very reasonable - we loved it.

The food was very good, we ended up ordering a second pasta to share. Nice portions, not too big,not to small. The restaurant plated our shared plates separately. Which was a nice touch. The service was impared by too many servers, each thinking the other was handling our request/order. No English menu option. Half L of red was very good.

We had two wonderful evenings at this restaurant - seated outside, the ambience was brilliant. Advised by Massimo, we sampled a number of fabulous local dishes and enjoyed some very drinkable wine, for a very reasonable price. Hoping to come back again next year!

If you are in Sulmona eat at this restaurant. The food is excellent, house white wine was very good, but the character of the place is what really sets it apart, especially the host and (I presume) owner.

Nice environment but food was disappointing. Staff were unfriendly and appeared to only value locals not tourists. I got a glass with lipstick round the rim. The locals appeared to be offered a different choice of menu options to us.

Can’t fault this gem of a restaurant. Friendly attentive service, lovely location, fresh beautiful food. The highlight was the burata (recommended with anchovies, they were right!) The pappardelle also highly recommended. I dined with Italian family who hadn’t been there before but are keen to return.

This is one of my favourite restaurants in Sulmona. It is traditional but local produce served in an innovative way with him-made dishes which are original and very tasty. It is not the cheapest restaurant but still fair value for money and the ambient is rather original, particularly for an Italian provincial restaurant. THoroughly recommend it.

Very typical Italian restaurant, the waiter spoke good English and was quite good fun. Very busy and you need a reservation most times. One shock was one of us ordered anchovy’s and they came still in the tin and box, very nice but not what you usually expect in a restaurant, more like DIY service ???? That said the food was good and change daily so all local style and produce, the wines ordered off a hand written menu which was novel but offered a great selection from both local and other regions.

Very nice restaurant with a fresh, young, surprising look and feel. Personnel very friendly and helpful. Menu with interesting dishes, with an effort in using local ingredients. Food was actually really good, except for the soup (farro con castagne e funghi porcini) which was a bit on the salty side (for our taste). Wine was ok (more choice would be desirable) and coffee (with local pastry) excellent. (good coffee seems to be a local standard in Sulmona ... ;-). In brief, highly recommendable. We definitely would come again.
