6.5/10arrived on time..nice table..no draught beer..explained the waitress..we're closing at the end of September!!..this was on 6th September...no starter that we wanted..we're closing at the end of September..very limited wine selection..we're closing at the end of September!!...Main course was lovely...service was a little haphazard...but we still enjoyed our evening..Phil Webster

10/10This is such a lovely place and the food and service is really excellent. It’s much better than most of the restaurants in Luz and well worth the 10min taxi trip from Luz to have some great food. Try the chicken dish, it just melts in your mouth. It’s a fantastic hidden gem of a place.

9/10The service was a bit sketchy to start as we had to wait quite a while for our drinks but the food more than made up for it. Excellent steak, pizza and seafood tagliatelle. Even better when we got 50% off the food bill!

8/10It wasn’t the easiest place to find & the roads were very difficult to navigate in the village. Parking was horrendous! On the good side - the restaurant was very nicely decorated, the food fantastic, service good with a very friendly, helpful waitress. On top of that we had the 50% discount from The Fork booking so definitely a win win! There really wasn’t any atmosphere because unfortunately there place was nearly empty. I should imagine on a music night & the place was full it would be great.

2/10We found two very long hairs (12") in one of the Pasta dishes, we complained and they replaced the food. However, they were not concerned about it at all, in fact, fairly indifferent about it. We will never return there or recommend it to anyone.

Dear Mr Clarke, We are very sorry for your bad experience in our restaurant. Unfortunately these are things that despite all precautions, they can happen. Please be aware that all kitchen staff wear hair protection ( they are all men ) and also the ground employees are not blonde at all and use the hair tide up, exactly to avoid this situation. Please accept our apologies and the lack of communication at the moment was just because any of the staff speaks good English. 8.5/10Excellent food. Really lovely spot and one that should be on every Italian food lovers list. Best Nutella pizza ever, was a desert declaration from my younger diners. Service was a little off as the staff were overwhelmed by the number of walk ins and they simply could not keep up.

The charming location and atmosphere immediately told us it was going to be a memorable experience. Nothing fancy, but just a warm and friendly local place. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was so fresh and wonderfully prepared. We had a few starters including the cheeseboard, roasted veggies, and garlic focaccia, and the focaccia in particular was simply amazing. Each of our entrees was delicious. My 2 girls both ordered the gnocchi which were served in a small crock with cheese and they loved it. The rest of us had pasta - 2 with boar and 1 with shrimp and zucchini. Amazing also. The recommendation of the local red wine from Alvor was delicious, light and refreshing. We are a family of 5 with 3 adult children and all of us agreed it was the best meal we had in Portugal. We will only be here in Algarve one more day and will try to fit it in our schedule to go one more time. Wish we had discovered it sooner.

9.5/10Really great find. Excellent food including a fabulous salad with shrimp, olives, greens and corn. My husband had the tasty sausage and mushroom pizza. We also enjoyed the local white wine. Excellent service in a festive feeling place

What a find in the middle of Barão de São João. Fresh, homemade pasta, great service, and lots of fun with a dj and karaoke on Friday nights. We ended up joining and befriending another group at the next table. We will be back!
