A first-class meal served in a congenial setting by friendly, efficient servers. A shout-out to Noah, my smart, funny hipster server! I'm betting the chef of Cafe Bovo gets a Michelin star soon.

9.5/10We decided to try Café Bovo based on the excellent reviews and its location near our hotel. It was a great decision. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff were brilliant, particularly our knowledgeable and hilarious waiter (with an excellent taste in music!). We also very much appreciated the chef's offer to adapt the dishes to our taste, which encouraged us to try ingredients that were new to us. We enjoyed our dinner so much that we returned a second time before we left Marseille and the experience was just as wonderful as the first time. The ambience wasn't luxurious or fancy, but it was comfortable and welcoming; we especially liked the plants and fairy lights in the front window.

10/10What an amazing little place. The service was so warm and welcoming. The food was very surprising, original and superb. The overall atmosphere was amazing. They have 9 dishes on the menu, all looked very good. We decided to share all nine dishes. We were happy that we did. The overall experience was truly remarkable.

Uniquely French innovative food. In old port neighborhood. Delicious creations in authentic atmosphere. Staff tried very hard to overcome language and cultural disconnects.

10/10we were last at cafe bovo 12 months ago and had a great experience. Last night was even better. The food is imaginative, well presented and beautifully cooked. Our server, Noah was amazing explaining all the dishes, recommending, answering any questions on ingredients etc. Excellent experience, very good value for the quality of food and experience. Highly recommend

10/10Such a great lunch, with everything we like: fresh seasonal products cooked by the chef who is creative and talented, served in an intimate atmosphere by the chef. on top of his great cooking skills he happens to be a very friendly guy, and it feels like having a meal at a friend's place. we will definitely be back!!

10/10Welcome & Atmosphere 🌟 When we arrived, we were greeted warmly, setting a positive tone for our visit. The restaurant wasn’t crowded in the afternoon, which made for a relaxed atmosphere. Menu & Service 📜🍽️ Although the menu is only available in French, the staff were incredibly friendly. They introduced the dishes by showing us some of what they were going to serve. They made a genuine effort to explain everything in English, which we greatly appreciated. Staff Passion ❤️ The passion of the staff for their work was evident and added a special touch to our dining experience. Food Quality 🍲🍰 Every dish we tried was delicious, including the dessert. Overall Experience 🌟 It was a delightful experience, and we would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great food and warm hospitality.

Wonderful food - fresh - met the chef I was dining alone for lunch and he adjusted portion size for one - the basil sorbet in the salad - fantastic!! Highly recommend!

10/10We did not feel confident about our choice of Cafe Bovo for dinner initially. The menu was quite small. We ordered house cocktails to start with and these were disappointing. But then the food began to arrive and that was all really superb. A very clever chef! Add in a bottle of very good house white wine and great background music and this turned out to be a great choice of restaurant, conveniently very close to Le Vieux Port too.

10/10My wife and I found this restaurant via a TheFork review. We were not disappointed. The staff were brilliant - fun, vibrant, careful, respectful, knowledgeable. The food was outstanding- the flavors were wonderful. We went the tapas route with 5 choices plus desert. We were full. Good value for money - Euro 73 which included 2 glasses of wine. We were in Provence for 16 days with many meals out and this was by far the best. Highly recommend.

9.5/10A little gem! One street back from the harbour and its tourist restos, although fairly basic the staff and food were fab. A sort of French tapas vibe, with some fresh ideas. Really attentive staff, very friendly and kind. Couldn’t do enough to make us welcome.

9.5/10An exceptional experience in all ways. Chef Denis served up at escabeche of mackerel that was one of the best fish starters I have ever eaten anywhere followed by a loin of pork in bbq sauce that would have been superb if only for the quality of the ingredients. Noah provided friendly, competent, and good humored service. The wine list deserves comment as well. While there are no old vintages on offer, Chef Denis really knows the wines of his region and guided us to an outstanding bottle from north of Montpellier. We would never have found this wine on our own. Price/value relationship here is excellent. We would enthusiastically recommend Cafe Bovo to anyone visiting Marseille and will definitely return.

10/10This was the best restaurant we ate at on our trip to France. We had the lamb, which melted in my mouth, the white fish with white sauce was delicious, and the desserts were also excellent. Beer and wine choices paired perfectly. I recommended this restaurant to my cousin who is local. Everything was above expectations and was not expensive. Chef Denise came out to the tables and was very friendly. He definitely impressed us with the food.

9.5/10The staff were friendly and welcoming and very knowledgeable about allergens. We navigated the menu to find something gluten & diary free and it was no bother to them. We spent a very lovely, relaxed evening and would definitely go back again.

3/10We decided to try this place because of the scoring of the fork, 9.7/10… We took two starters and two main course (octopus) everything was fresh but the combination of all ingredients didn’t match at all…the taste was full of flavours and at the end, we didn’t like it! I am sorry for the comment but 9.7 it’s not acceptable, really!

Bonjour, Je n’ai aucunement la prétention de plaire à tout le monde. Ma cuisine est complètement assumée, faite avec amour et à mon goût. Je n'ai aucunement l’intention d’en changer. Les clients sont des personnes adultes qui sont censés savoir lire une carte et où ils mettent les pieds. Malgré cela, si vous vous êtes égarés chez nous, sachez que vous avez la possibilité de communiquer avec le personnel afin que la cuisine et le service s'adaptent à vous. Cordialement

10/10The best restaurant in the Old Port for those who appreciate good food and are in need of gluten-free meals. We have been coming here again and again for 3 years. Very children friendly and good food and absolute accommodating for the kids too. When we are in Marseilles then always: Café Bovo! Many thanks to the great team!

10/10I needed gluten free which was not a problem as all but one menu item was gluten free. Staff explained everything and were very attentive (bringing us ice all the time). Definitely recommend

9/10Outside street dining at small tables with weird design that was not very comfortable. However, we went for the food and found that amazing and the table a slight inconvenience. Our server was good and the person who helped us the most was Noah, a young, well-spoken woman whose English was excellent. She was so friendly and welcoming. The food is more tapas style and was delightful -flavorful and beautifully presented. Highly recommend that you book and give them a try.

10/10THIS RESTAURANT WAS ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. WE HAD RESERVED IT FOR MY HUSBAND'S 80TH BIRTHDAY LUNCH. SADLY, HE PASSED AWAY ON AUGUST 3. MY SON AND I WENT ON WITH THE CRUISE AND SUBSEQUENT LUNCH PLANS. WE BOTH WERE ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTED WITH ALL ASPECTS OF THE EVENT. THE GENTLEMAN WELCOMED US RIGHT AWAY AND SEATED US DESPITE BEING 1/2 HOUR EARLY. THE WAITRESSES WERE EXCELLENT. ONE SPOKE ENGLISH WHICH HELPED US MAKE A PERFECT LUNCH. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING WONDERFUL!
