Pure class and quality, from the doorbell at the entry to the fancy box your check is presented in, the place is posh. We had a business dinner for 9 Yanks. Starting off with our wait staff’s selection of appetizers which were all delicious. We all went with the Cafe’s special steak (filet), some topped with egg and some not, as our main. Bottles of their house wine- excellent for the price. Desserts were decadent. Price was very fair and reasonable.

Charming ambience

While visiting Lisboa we decided to give this place a try! We really had a fabulous experience. It has a speak easy vibe with a touch of plaid and sophistication. The steak was tender and seasoned to perfection. The wine gravy was divine…and my port and tonic was the perfect pairing to top off this meal. Service with a smile and grace made this a night to remember!

We had a wonderful time in this very unique and charming restaurant. It is small and you have to ring on the front door and wait to be allowed in - it’s almost like you are in someone’s front room! It all adds to the occasion, the staff are friendly and the food was delicious. We would thoroughly recommend for anyone staying in Lisbon.

The best steak you will ever have . So tender it cuts like butter. Portuguese style and their traditional cream sauce is absolutely delicious. We went there on New Year’s Eve we had excellent service throughout. Would definitely come here again

I had a wonderful dining experience on the later side of the evening of Dec. 16. Loved the sumptuous warm-glowed, intimate ambience and the decor, right down to the waiters' plaid waistcoats matching the pillows. Service was impeccable. The soundtrack was jazz standards (Blossom Dearie, Dave Brubeck, for example) played at a light, unobtrusive level. The food was glorious. The famed steak lives up to the hype and then some. What a wonderful, very memorable evening.

The guidebook said "Best Steak in Lisbon Hands Down". Not at all. The venue is charming, but the steak was not good. The steak was not at all seared, it was flabby and loose. It looked like it had been simmered. We were a party of 5, 2 had the house special steak and deemed it ok, they ate it (but they are men lol), the other 3 of us just had regular steak. Not good.

Excellent traditional menu, professional service but very bad atmosphere. The old and dirty carpet, the strange smell of mold and the uncomfortable seats ruined the night .

I absolutely loved my experience at Café de São Bento! The place has such a charming vintage wooden décor that makes you feel instantly cozy and comfortable. The atmosphere is calm and warm, and the acoustic design is amazing! it blocks almost all the outside noise, which makes it the perfect spot to relax or have a nice conversation. The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly, always making sure everything was perfect. And the star of the show? The famous steak with the house sauce !!Absolutely delicious! Tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. If you’re looking for a place that combines great food, top-notch service, and a welcoming vibe, Café de São Bento is definitely worth a visit.

A beautiful hidden restaurant where one has to be invited inside by a charming host. Once inside, the atmosphere of the cozy dining rooms exude warmth, charm, and class, while complementing the wonderful food and excellent service. An experience not to be missed.

Amazing place. Fantastic service. Steaks and fries were excellent. Only small downside is that the sides are a bit limited.

If I could give ten stars, I would. Flawless, memorable, and delicious evening. I finally found my go to restaurant in Lisboa. Definitely end your evening with the chocolate cake.
