10/10The oldest Caffe in Trieste also holds its rank for lunch. We tried a classic primo (pasta) and secondo (fish for me, meat for my wife) and the 4 dishes were great. The Sacher dessert is austrian quality worth and the caffes (a Ginseng and a classic espresso) were just great.

8/10I ate here because I was interested to eat at a place that was here when my great-grandpa was. It is very beautiful, the food was good, but the service was lacking a bit.

9.5/10The waiter was very helpful and the restaurant was very clean and picturesque though we were seated near the road there was very little traffic. The mussels and catch of the day were delicious though quite pricey.

6.5/10Caffè Tommaseo is an old Trieste institution, going back to Hapsburg times, so we were keen to visit it. Unfortunately, the experience was a little disappointing. To start with, my wife tried to select first one and then another menu item only to be told that they were each only served for two people. That’s fair enough, so she chose something else (i.e. her third choice) finally with the waiter’s approval. When it came, it was absolutely tiny – for a supposed main course! I wanted to order her something else, but she didn’t want to make a fuss. My beef main course, which I had ordered done medium, came rare to the point of being ‘blue’! They took it back and cooked it a bit more, but it was still quite rare when it returned. Like my wife, I didn’t want to make a fuss, so I just ate it. At the end of the meal, my wife ordered a glass of port. When it arrived, it contained a lot of sediment – from the bottom of a bottle that had not been decanted. To be fair, the waiter accepted that the port contained an undue amount of sediment and did not charge us for it. I had really wanted to like Caffè Tommaseo for reasons of historical sentimentality. It’s certainly well-appointed inside and has the look of a classy place, but there were too many disappointments with the meal for me to be able to give it a higher rating.

10/10A historical restaurant / café in the middle of the old town of Trieste. A wonderful travel in time. A perfect place to take some time and to dive into history. Delicious food and an outstanding service. The staff is very kind, friendly and accommodating.

10/10Indoor dining area is formal ‘ outside very nice in this great location. Seafood is super fresh and well prepared . Wine list features great wines from the region . Prices are extremely reasonable

9.5/10Nice Restaurant and the service was excellent.The food and the wine also really tasty and fresh. The only negative point was they didn’t understand we booked through the fork app and we hadn’t the discount of 20%.

10/10Our experience at Cafe Tommaseo was amazing. The staff were all very friendly and polite. They fully explained the menu and items not on the menu. We was spoilt for choice. The meal was incredibly good. I had the beef, which was cooked perfectly. There was a live jazz band playing which made the atmosphere even more relaxing. I would definitely eat here again and will recommend to anyone visiting the area.
