Very good food. Reasonably priced. Warm comfortable atmosphere. We thought the pizzas were excellent. Open pizza kitchen so you can see the pizzas being made- this is fun and the pizza master is really good at what he does. The fish dishes we ordered were also very good. The owner/manager is welcoming and friendly but the serving staff lacks warmth and friendliness, so the service is just ok. This place is frequented by locals and tourists. Overall, we would recommend this restaurant. Make a reservation, as it’s popular and fills up.

Good variety of dishes. Friendly staff. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. The tables are quite close together though not close enough to feel claustrophobic but close enough to enable us to chat to those on the next tables. We’ve been before with friends and we will be back.

We missed our reservation due to difficulty in finding a parking place. Parking is virtually impossible in the area. However restaurant was able to provide us seating

Have eaten here twice so far in our first visit to Lagos. The black pig tenderloin was fantastic and the Bacalhau was uniquely presented (from my perpective) and delicious. Staff are super friendly and helpful.

The atmosphere was authentic and felt local. However. the gentleman waiting on us could have cared less and no personality. Would have preferred a much more personal approach

Food and the place were great. Pizza was awesome. Service was terrible. Waitress had no interest in helping. Couldn’t even get the bill. Had to go ask for it.

We first visited Calhou six years ago and couldn’t wait to go this time when we returned to Lagos. The food was just as good six years on. We had the Octopus cataplana for two. It was extremely tasty and we would highly recommend it.

The welcome we get, even after months, is so welcoming. The choice between portuguese dishes or pizza provides variety for a family. Always full in the evening, so recomend book in advance.

Pizza dough a little bit under. The crust wasn't fully cooked. Cataplana was a ton of potatoes and not that much fish.

Hands down *the* best pork tenderloin I've ever had. Lovely staff and relaxing atmosphere.

Lovely atmosphere good service most of the food was very good - the cheesy garlic bread, the pizza, the squid were great The steak in peppercorn sauce was not good 3 peppercorns in curdled tasteless sauce. Not sure how the steak coked but it was tasteless and had a lot of sinew in it. No one enquired how the meals were or asked why the steak wasn’t eaten. Such a shame.

Excellent pizza

We found this restaurant early in our holiday and just kept coming back. The food is excellent. The service is quiet and discreet but perfectly timed. The pizza oven in the dining area adds a real touch of action and ambience the whole place. The place is just so well run. Highly recommended.

We had lamb chops + salmon, both were delicious and plentiful. The chocolate pie to finish is always excellent. Would highly recommend Calhou.

The traditional Portuguese food was spectacular. We went three times during the course of a week and rotated amongst ordering the salmon, dorada, and sea bass entrees. The garlic bread (without cheese) was our go-to appetizer. We also highly recommend the Allo vino verde.

The food is not tasty and the green pepper sauce was terrible, could not taste any green pepper in it.

Excellent as always. Great food and service. Would highly recommend to anyone. Have never had a bad meal, whether traditional Portuguese food, or pizza. The salmon is probably my favourite👍

Delicious food - the steak and salmon were particularly good. Friendly and attentive staff. We were seated at the back of the restaurant and it was a little bit dark but we really enjoyed our evening.

Excellent service, great ambiance, and even better pizzas! We each ordered a different pizza and loved them all. Much larger pizza than we expected so leftovers….yummmm! Who knew you could have pistachios on pizza - what a taste experience. Highly highly recommend this fabulous restaurant. We will be back!

Great food in a cheerful dining atmosphere. Can get busy enough to overwhelm the staff just a bit, but if you are not in a hurry (and you shouldn’t be), things are very enjoyable
