4/10Despite being someone who dines out regularly I tend not to leave a review unless I have something good to say but feel compelled to write, after a special lunch to celebrate my partner’s 59th birthday turned into a total disappointment. For a fairly high-priced restaurant I found both of our dishes (turbot and monkfish), together with one of the starters, to be really poorly cooked. This actually could possibly have been overlooked given the good location and pleasant interior, however, what destroyed the occasion completely was a child of about 7 years-old at the next table, playing a very loud computer game and shouting at his phone for the entire duration of our meal, while his family chatted amongst themselves. When mentioned to the head-waiter, we were offered complimentary coffees by way of recompense but by this time just wanted to pay the bill and leave. A thoroughly disappointing experience.

10/10Great family dinner. I was pleased inviting my family there for the best paella ever, and the best octopus-trompette mushroom dishes. Sangria is great as well! I was there 2 years ago for a business trip and couldn't wait coming back!

10/10A fantastic meal both times, we went back a second time because the food and service was excellent. The squid with mushrooms was unbelievable. The paella with seafood was just so good! We had Cava Sangria both times, highly recommended. The meal was one of the best I have ever had. We spent two hours there each time, never rushed, treated like valued guests. My highest recommendation!

9/10Location very near Barceloneta metro station. Cozy place with a fade light that gives an ancient space look. Tidy and clean. Sea food is delicious and very well cooked. Tasty and not oily at all. This is a plus! Paella with seafood is so good and delicious, the crispy rice at the bottom of the pot is something unpredictable! Yummy! All was paired with Addaia white wine, top wine! To close the dinner a squeezed lemon sorbet that I’ve never had before, it was so fresh and delicious. A mouth reset! Thank you ! The only negative note the AC too annoying, it was too cold!

2/10We felt unwelcomed even though we had a reservation. Horrible food, service was even more horrible. They were borderline racist and rude. The food was not even seasoned with salt. This restaurant shouldn't be on the fork as the food was smelling old and will surely turn into a lawsuit as this can cause health problems. Urging The fork to look into this. To the chef and restaurant staff- please don't waste sea food in this manner, cook it well enough so the patrons can eat it. Season it, ensure its fresh and treat your patrons with respect. Will advice all my friends to not visit. Really hoping the fork looks into this and takes them out of their listing. This is NOT a fine dining restaurant

3.5/10The staff we disinterested and cold as the weather outside... we felt like we were interrupting them. Then half way through our dinner the kitchen staff started watching TV with the volume up. We wished we could have left. The paella was okay ... a long way from the reviews we had read. The dessert was disgraceful ... it barely compared to frozen, microwave desserts. The dinner was the most expensive dinner we have had in Barcelona and the worst. Do not bother going. This place is trading on an undeserved reputation.

10/10It was our first dinner in town. The food was excellent. We ordered baby squid with mushrooms, oxtail stew, and Paella Negra. We loved it. The service was good as well.

10/10It was really nice to find a quiet restaurant with excellent food and service after a weeks stay in Barcelona. Other restaurants were good but this is one to go back to again on another visit.

2.5/10We came here especially to enjoy delicious paella with the famous crust. We were incredibly disappointed because instead, the paella was hastily prepared for tourists with zero crust and little flavor. It was extremely overpriced and the staff was rude. We would advise anyone looking to enjoy paella to go elsewhere.

3/10No one greeted us when we entered the restaurant. Server was indifferent and not very helpful. Plates were dropped on our table as the waiter was turning and walking away. Our first time eating paella but if this is some of the best skip it. Everything on the menu was so expensive. All the starters cost as much as the paella.

10/10My friends and I had an excellent meal here.. one of the best paella dishes I've ever had. Location wise, it was also a short walk from the beach and close to public transportation. I would highly recommend!

8.5/10The food was really amazing and the Paella was as good as it can be!! The only downside from our prospective was that the kitchen was visible, which is not a negative, however when it's noisy and people can hear the cooks' conversations about personal issues, it can become a negative factor to the overall dining experience. Overall, the Paella was delicious and lived up to the restaurant's fame, the service was equally good, and only the noise from the kitchen was the downside. Our suggestion will be that the restaurant has some sort of separation between the kitchen and the dining area and if not, they should advise the cooking staff to behave professionally when there people dining in front.

9.5/10Can Sole is a great find - a family business (4 generations) that has been around for 112 years, located in the Barceloneta section of BCN. You definitely get the family feel in this lovely restaurant. Very cozy, you can see your dishes being prepared in the kitchen. The dishes were outstanding, in particular their specialty, the paella!! Very big portions, we did take food home! Great wine recommendations as well, and we had a fun time! The waiters were attentive and flexible, as our reservation grew from originally three to six! Highly recommend it.

5/10The paella was slightly overcooked and was rather expensive - the rice was enough for a family of 10, but the seafood was very small, scarce, and overcooked. The steak was also overcooked and the fries were extremely bland. The waiter bring the steak order, claiming we did not order. However, while wine pairing, we discussed wanting a red (rather than the white he recommended) since we were ordering steak too. It took another 20+ mins for the steak to come out while the rest of the food was already at the table. Mediocre at best. This meal was disappointing and overpriced. Would not recommend.

4.5/10The croquetas are good (although incredibly expensive). That is the only good thing we can say. Service is OK, not great — even though the restaurant was almost completely empty (one other table finishing up when we arrived, one more seated while we were there). Fish was unappetizingly presented, especially the monkfish. The sole was good but would have benefited greatly from a slice or two of lemon. Frites were dry. The food was clearly mostly prepared in advance and just finished off to order. Not one shred of green or other vegetable (not even offered as a side dish). Not going to return under any circumstances.

2/10From the moment we arrived we felt unwelcome. They seemed unable to locate my reservation despite my being the only English person eating at the restaurant. We were then chased through the courses at at Usain Bolt like clip, most bizarre in a country that prides itself on its leisurely pace of dining. My advice is don’t go here, it’s over-priced for very mediocre food (100 Euro for 2) and the service is awful.
