9/10We booked at the last minute for Friday dinner & it was excellent. Do book though as Saturday was unavailable. The food was terrific - lovely half-portion of pasta to start & then immaculately cooked local fish. Desserts were very good too. We enjoyed a glass of the recommended local wine. Service was attentive but unobtrusive. Highly recommended. Well worth the 20 minute walk from the centre of Mantova.

10/10This restaurant is the best... an atmospheric garden, with delicious inventive food, and wonderful service. Just a total delight. I took my parents, and we all love food and food experiences, and we were all equally blown away. Hands down our favourite meal. Would like to return every night to try everything on the menu. A truly spectacular restaurant!

9.5/10We ate very well in Mantua but this was overall the best meal we had . Cooking was of a very high standard and service was attentive and helpful, particularly in respect of my coeliac husband's requirements for gluten-free food.

10/10Outstanding even for the very high standards of the cuisine mantouane: offering a wide range of culinary options (including vegetarian ones and the possibility to combine several small dishes), this restaurant provides excellent service in a pleasant atmosphere - all at a fair and affordable price.

6.5/10The food was well presented and tasty. The mise en place was nice and the olive oil from lake Garda was a nice touch. The greeting on entering the restaurant could have been friendlier. Service was slow, I had to ask to order after 30 minutes sitting at the table and then another 10 minutes before the order was finally taken. Amuse bouche was a bit uninspiring, spelt flavoured with turmeric didn’t really reflect the traditional menu. However the food was good. The outdoor courtyard setting was pretty and well ventilated which made for a pleasant atmosphere. I would recommend the restaurant on balance it was worth the visit and will return.

8.5/10Carlo Govi was a unique and unexpectedly happy experience. Our waiter was Carlo Govi, the owner. He was warm and engaging without an ego but clearly proud of his restaurant and his food. The small rooms at first felt claustrophobic but then intimate after meeting Carlo. Best to eat outside if possible!

9.5/10Excellent value. The best meal I have had in Italy. I started with a wonderful carpaccio followed by a spinach and cheese ravioli. My husband had aubergine stuffed ravioli. Both were delicious. It was very good value.
