We chanced upon this restaurant on Google maps and thought the position overlooking the river looked great: we weren’t wrong: the view at sunset was stunning. The menu is small, but we prefer that, and the staff were really knowledgable and helpful. On top of all this the food was incredible. We will definitely be going back. We sat outside in October and it was still warm once the sun went down

7/10I lode this restaurant sooo much! The food and wine is excellent but the service fails. Every time. One would expect an improved on the seventh visit but in actual fact it just gets worse. Tonight the waitress took my plate from underneath me whilst still eating and when I said I am still busy her answer was but your main meal is about to be served…my friend actually took the plate out of her hands and put it back. You really need to work on your staff training.

7.5/10Nice and relaxed location. As the place filled up, there was a longer gap between the courses, noticeable on all tables. I take this as a sign of fresh preparation in the kitchen. For my taste, the chef used too much salt, but the overall quality and preparation is nice, reflected by the price.

10/10We loved this place so much we came back twice in the same week. The açorda was outstanding, and the wine selection was excellent – with perfect suggestions from the João. Warm, attentive service made both visits unforgettable.

10/10Fabulous, off the beaten track with lovely river views. Close to motorway and not far from Portimao . Bridge over river. Food is amazing. Not cheap but value for money given excellent quality.

5.5/10This place has change from a large menued restaurant to one with few options. The waiting staff were mostly clueless and got our order wrong three times. The head waiter tried to do his best to salvage the situation with a couple of complimentary desert wines but the damage had been done. We paid just over €135 for two covers, two feeble mains and some seemingly shop bought deserts - this did incl a bottle of wine though. It really wasn’t worth half of that. We won’t be hurrying back

6.5/10Such a beautiful restaurant and decor and setting. Friendly and nice staff. However price has increased up to 68% from the menu online compared to the menu we got when we arrived (Tuna starter was 9.50 and is now 14) Also the bathrooms didn't have water so not possible to flush the toilet or wash your hands (until a waitress came and helped pouring water from a bottle). Only that fact should not allow the restaurant to be open! Ordered shrimp curry after asking if it was spicy / hot and told it wasn't (as can't eat spicy food for health reasons). Sure was at least medium spicy compared to Indian/Asian food. Steak was nice.

10/10A hidden gem. The table all had different dishes and we all had food envy! And the desserts were truly amazing. The service was worthy of 11/10. It was our first time, but won't be our last. One of the best value for money restaurants you'll find in the Algarve.

10/10Tucked away on the riverside of a beautiful little Portuguese village, this excellent Mediterranean restaurant is not to be missed. I'm having second thoughts about giving a 5☆review because I want this to be my personal hideaway. But, that wouldn't be fair to the staff at Casa do Rio. The ambience alone is worth the drive. Nestled next to the Rio Arade, with a view of the magnificent bridge and the small boats gently passing by, you will think it is a dream. Casa do Rio is the ultimate romantic getaway. The sevice compares to the best Lisbon eateries. And the food? Worth writing a review. We had the vegetarian pasta. Gently seasoned roasted veggies swimming in perfectly cooked spaghetti pasta makes a wonderful pairing. So, if you make reservations, please ask if I've already booked a table. I prefer an intimate rendezvous!
