Overall, it is a good place with original cuisine. I was just surprised that we got food we didnt order and were asked to pay for it. Plus the card terminal not working.

We started with a salad which was simple and very good. The lamb couscous was delicious, but the beef kebab from their grilled section was not good at all. The meat was incredibly tough and there was not a lot of flavor especially for a Moroccan place. The staff were friendly and overall we enjoyed our meal.

An unexpected restaurant set away from the main tourist area. We were surprised to find that nothing listed as a starter was available to order but we ordered the lamb couscous as a main dish. It was very good with the lamb cooked perfectly. The portions were very large which left us feeling very full after one course. The service was friendly.

Quality and quantity of food was very good. We really enjoyed the decor and location of this restaurant. My tajine with chicken, almonds and apricots was a bit too sweet for my liking. Nonetheless, would recommend this place!

We visited Chez Ali with friends, drawn in by the excellent reviews. Unfortunately, our experience did not meet our expectations. The food was at best average, and the service was also mediocre. While we ordered a few drinks, we were surprised to find that they brought us two bottles of Ruinart Champagne for 290 EUR, along with an additional charge of 90 EUR for champagne that we never received. We have dined at several restaurants in Épernay, and our experiences have generally been excellent, except for this one.

We had the pleasure of dining at Chez Ali, and it was an absolute delight. Highly recommended for food lovers!

We were craving for food without cream and butter, seeing that we never use them cooking (we are Italian). And it was perfect : we had delicious tagines, with chicken and with lamb. Well spiced and pipping hot! There were not many clients that night, so we had time for an enjoyable chat with the cook and the waiter. It was a perfect last dinner for our champagne tour 😊

It was a very slow evening and only one other table was occupied. Our food was great, the service was lovely. Our server even brought us a fun little dessert with candle to celebrate our anniversary.

Slightly off the beaten track you will find an excellent authentic Moroccan restaurant.Service was leisurely but friendly but food was worth the wait.

The food was very good, but there were no starters available and almost no couscous available that day. And we waited almost an hour for the food.

Their electricity was off - so not their fault. However, we had pre-booked and turned up at the restaraunt as planned. To be told when we arrived, they were not able to serve us, which I understand. Even though they knew this in advance, for hours, they never botherered to contact us to let us know they couldnt accomodate us. We were left walking around trying to find somewhere else to eat. Very poor way to deal with the situation.

Great ambience and service. Food was genuinely Moroccan. Host made an effort to communicate with us as tourists, we did not feel like we were an inconvenience. Great value.

Our food took over an hour to come out of the kitchen. It took a long time for the server to take our order and then to get our drinks. The food was good when it finally arrived but the wait was ridiculous. The restaurant was not crowded but was very understaffed.

Lovely young waiter, who tries his best, but food pretty Bland: watery Stew, soggy veges, and extremely uninteresting boring couscous!!!

This was a hidden gem! Off the beaten path a bit (under ten minutes from Avenue de campagne) but excellent Moroccan meal. Staff was very polite and attentive. Try the harira soup and coucous poulet…. They were great. A traditional mint tea to finish and back to champagne tasting!

On our 4th trip to Epernay and finally got to dine at Chez Ali as wanted to try an alternative. Food was great, we shared the lamb Tangine with prune and the couscous Ali, both dishes were very tastyand would recommend. You could tell everything is cooked to order. We had the mint tea with pastries after (mainly for the spectacle of pouring) and now wish I could drink this everyday! Service great too.

Delicious and well presented food in a warm and welcoming setting within steps of the town center. And the cuisine pairs perfectly with Champagne!

Incredible Moroccan food, we had the grilled lamb chicken and apricot tajine, both were really beautiful. The restaurant was completely packed, always a good sign.

Warm and inviting staff, with nice decor and tableware. Our waiter made some great suggestions on dishes as we are Moroccan novices. We had a delicious cucumber, tomato, onion and parsley salad, couscous and a chicken and apricot tagine. Nice wine list with French and Moroccan selections. We loved the Moroccan rose. Mint tea for dessert. Highly recommend this restaurant.

It’s sad we have to write this but over a two hour wait this evening we decided to leave Chez Ali before receiving our food and had to go to the supermarket (at 9.45 pm, after a long journey from Switzerland today) and then make some food back at our hotel. We have a young son and it was getting far too late for his dinner - that’s why we booked a 7.30 pm reservation. For those who had food it looked excellent and I have no doubt if staffed properly this would be a fantastic little find. I felt sorry for the very lovely (and only!) waiter/clearer/order taker who was clearly overrun this evening. The sad thing was that despite the huge wait the restaurant was still accepting more customers. They should have looked after the customers they already had! I saw at least five tables leave before they received their food in our area during the time we were there this evening. There was no communication and we finally got some water and some bread after over an hour (we should have left then!) it doesn't leave a good impression and it totally ruined our evening in Épernay.

Excellent setting and atmosphere. Very polite and professional service. The waiter was alone and had a lot on his hands but remained friendly and professional. We had to wait one hour for our food without appetizer. But the food (once it arrived) was top shelve! Strongly advise!

We ate at this restaurant last year when we visited Epernay and enjoyed our visit so much we thought why not go again during this visit. Service was rather slow, we waited 20 minutes for an initial bottle of water. As we studied the menu we were then informed that there were no starters available. We ordered a main dish each and it was very nice. Drinks were rather pricey and the bottled beers we ordered were not particularly cold. Would we visit again, based on this experience probably not!
