Nice location & John was very friendly; however, I would not recommend going on a Monday as we did because the restaurant had not yet received supplies following what I imagine was a very busy weekend; we were VERY limited on what we could order. Other than the Monday thing, I would recommend the restaurant.

The best Swiss natural steak ever! Great presentation. Chez John is there attending and serving all the guests. Great service and food.

John greeted us at the door and made us feel right at home My wife and I ordered Fillet and Horse (never had this before) meat entry’s. They were delicious and we shared our plates. I don’t recall ever having meat served on sizzling hot platters. The hot plate did a better job of keeping the meat super hot as opposed to a hot plate. The restaurant staff made our evening enjoyable and wine selection was excellent.

Loud place and hard to get the server to come when it was full on a Saturday night. One of our steaks was not good at all. Expensive meat!

Even though Montreaux is one of the most expensive cities we have ever visited anywhere in the world, our dinner at Chez John is HANDS DOWN the best dining value anywhere. There are plenty of reasons why the ratings for this restaurant are so consistently high. For us…the two big standouts were the quality of the cuts of beef we ordered, and surprisingly (for us) the bottle of John’s “Red” we consumed with our meal. We stayed at the Fairmont which is known for great service. The food…not so much. We ate at other top rated choices like “Why Montreaux?” And realized the name of the restaurant might be ironic. It’s not that the food there was bad…it just made us miss the food and experience at Chez John a short walk away. We really enjoyed the quality of the food and the gracious attention of our hosts. Don’t skip this one.

Chez John has some of the best steaks in the region! The quality is very good and the way the steaks are served allow you to cook it exactly to your desire. John himself always comes to check that everything is 100% for you, which is always fun. My wife loves John’s tartare, but make sure to order it in advance. Whenever we have visitors (family, friends, work colleagues), we always bring them to Chez John for a unique and delicious dining experience. I cannot wait for my next visit!!

We were greeted by John himself. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. The menu is refreshingly simple. Several sizes/types of Steak on a hot rock with 4 sauces, salad, and fries. We had Gelato for dessert. An excellent meal. Thank you.

This hidden gem we terrific! John and his staff were delightful and our streaks were perfect. We were celebrating a birthday and they surprised it's with a huge candle and cake! Highly recommend this restaurant.

Visited them when it used to be located in Vevey long back. They are still equally impressive. One of the best places to have food around Vevey- Montreux-Villeneuve region.

Service was good, food came fast and it was delicious. I got the small steak , 200g, and it was more than enough. Love the way they serve steak on a hot stone so you can actually cook it yourself as much as you want. Haven't seen this done in US anywhere.

We went to Chez John when in Vevey and loved it. We had not been back to area in many years and was delighted to find that the owner was operating the restaurant at a new location. The food is excellent and the owner is very friendly with customers ensuring a great dining experience. We highly recommend.

We really enjoyed our meal at Chez John. The restaurant was busy which created a good atmosphere. We both chose steak on the hot plate which were excellent and the sauces were all really tasty.

Great food - we had CH bio small steak and bison large steak, both were very tender and perfect. We could have both S sized steak, as it is more than enough, considering included side dish and salad (S-200g, L-400g, XL-600g) Super service - Hassle free order taking, English speaking personnel, very polite and not intrusive Select of wine - Wine list changes daily, and chef recommendation is always good idea to follow Value for money - superb for CH standards, bio steak S size - 45CHF, bison L steak - 85CHF. Location - ok, on the main road, public parking available We will be back, indeed.

John The Roadhouse was a cute found during our stay in Montreux. It was worth it to have a ride until there, the staff are welcoming and ambiance was so romantic for our wedding anniversary.

We had a very good time at this little restaurant. The atmosphere is relaxed and pleasant. The steak is phenomenal, like mentioned in the previous comments. We also had the fondu, and it was delicious. We found the service to be a little slow, but the restaurant was full. John is quite the character, and we all had a good laugh together. I highly recommend this restaurant, and we will come back if we get the chance!
