What can I say- one of the best meals of our 2 weeks driving around France. Max is so nice, went out of his way to help us. The food was fantastic. Particular highlight was the scallops in champagne sauce. Do NOT MISS

Booked for my husbands 60th. Super attentive owners. They provided everything that we asked for....champagne on arrival and even a candle . The food was amazing with exceptional service. Highly recommend for a special meal if you want good value for money. Thankyou for a truly special evening. We will return.

Our AirBnB host told us about this little gem and I’m so glad he did! Our last night in Epernay was fantastic; the service, the food (get the steak tartare) and the atmosphere were perfect. Pro tip: make a reservation.

the place is very nice, a really good atmosphere. it is a very little and cozy restaurant. we were happy of enjoying authentic traditional french cousin. The manager was very friendly and funny. he made una to feel welcome and comfortable all the time. the food was great

We were here in Epernay almost exactly 5 years ago today. At that time we were told that Chez Max was the best restaurant in Epernay, reserved a table there, and had one of the most exceptional meals ever. We returned this week after 5 years, and we’re thrilled to be able to get a table at Chez Max again. We ordered exactly the same thing, rack of lamb and scallops, and the food, service, ambience, and overall experience were unparalleled. Certainly one of the best culinary experiences of our life. I could not recommend it more strongly. Enjoy!

When in champagne region this is an absolute must stop. From the moment you arrive you are greeted with warmth and hospitality. The food and service here is excellent. Many items to choose from the menu. The quality of ingredients is of the highest quality and the food is just divine. It was such a pleasure to eat here , we enjoyed every moment. The chef / owner is a wonderful man who makes you feel at home.... so comfortable . We are picky eaters not easily satisfied but this place was amazing. I can't say enough good things, no wonder the reviews are so positive.

The service, help and attention could not have been better and we had a most excellent meal. For my main course I had the rack of lamb which was superb. The others were also very happy too. Will definitely visit again on our return to Épernay.

Chex Max provided the finest meal and experience of all the restaurants we dined at while in the Epernay area. Outstanding in every respect - quality and presentation of every traditional dish, friendly and efficient service, very pleasant ambiance, and a small but well-chosen wine list. While Cave au Champagne was adequate and Jardin les Crayeres was hugely disappointing, Chex Max shined. Very, very "HIGHLY RECOMMENDED"!

We chose this restaurant on our final evening in Epernay to celebrate my husband's birthday. We were warmly welcomed by a delightful French gentleman and hiss Portuguese wife who hosted us for the evening. The cuisine was an exceptional representation of French culinary artistry, crafted with the finest quality ingredients and infused with the heartwarming traditions of France. We savored escargot, indulged in Normandy oysters, relished beef tartare, and my husband delighted in a kidney dish elegantly adorned with champagne. Our culinary journey was complemented by a splendid bottle of champagne, making the evening truly memorable. This restaurant is an absolute gem that shouldn't be missed if your travels bring you through this enchanting village. "Viva Chez Max!"

Amazing find. Restaurant serves locals and tourists. Can't say enough how good the tartare was! It was made from scratch in front of us. The owner (Jerome?) was quite the character.
