We had the pleasure of sitting with Bruno, the boss, and that alone made our visit memorable. Food is excellent and plentiful, we make sure to stop there every time we are in Paris. Merci Bruno, Lydia et les autres!

The staff is exceptional! They are professional, kind and attentive. The food is really good traditional French cuisine, from fois gras to magret de canard, cassoulet to cote de bœuf. Their desserts are a must, especially their mousse au chocolat!

Papa Bastille was the perfect spot for a meal before the opera- staff were gracious, food was very good and definitely became a lively spot for happy hour and dinner.

The starter of snails in a cream sauce with tomato, garlic and mushrooms was delicious. My main was a wonderfully cooked, seasoned and sliced duck breast with creamed leeks and sauté potatoes. The service was slow and could have been a bit more attentive.

Very good southwestern French food and large portions. Good value for sure and lots of variety on the menu. It’s a casual and noisy place and the atmosphere is good. Good for a group of friends but maybe not a romantic night out. Service was friendly and efficient. My only complaint is that I ordered a drink from the menu because it said it comes in a Chez papa glass that one can take home. I was served it in a normal glass and when I asked, the server went to ask someone. He came back and apologised and said they don’t do that anymore. They should then update the menu but at least he changed my drink to something else.

We booked for 4 people for 10:30 pm. When we got there they had no idea we had booked. We waited and then walked out, but they came after us and gave us a spot. They were good about accommodating us but we should not have had to go through that if they had accepted our booking. The food was Ok, but they were very nice to us after the incident. Would not go back though.

A very friendly neighborhood bistro. I came at 11 pm, after the opera at the Opera Bastille which is close by. This restaurant is not fancy -- paper placemats on the wooden tableand the soccer game was on a large tv in the dining room while I was there -- but very comfortable. And staff were helpful and welcoming. I had poached eggs with blue cheese sauce which came in a pot and was rich and tasty. Also had a steak with potatoes and salad. Steak was a bit tough but tasty, potatoes were garlicky and delicious, and the salad had a tasty mustard vinegarette on it. Enjoyed my visit and would go back if in the area.
