This was a surprise gem. We met Lucia (who is the co-owner with her twin brother) over dinner service. Lovely, helpful and guided our choices of local food and wine, which didn’t disappoint, and in fact was exquisitely delicious. The ambiance was lovely, considering that we were there in winter. Can’t recommend going here highly enough.

Loved the variety of the menu. Prices were very reasonable.and the quality of all was superb. the Aperol spritz for 5 E was one of the best I’ve ever had while the one I had in Paris the day before for 14 E was one of the worst. We ate upstairs and it was a beautiful night with an open air setting. The only thing and it was totally our fault is there were 10 of us and there was a service charge added at the beginning of the bill which we did not catch so we also tipped 10 % to our server. However, they were absolutely fantastic and running back-and-forth all evening for us so it wasn’t that bad. We picked this restaurant over another one based on the reviews and I’m so glad we did. It was well worth it.

What a find! It's worth the drive even if you're coming from a distance. The food was amazing and not the usual fare we've seen everywhere else in northern Italy. The upstairs enclosed balcony was also a quiet, romantic setting facing a courtyard from 1120 AD that the owner and her brother played in when growing up in what was their grandfather's home. The service was great, too. We can highly recommend Chiostro Cennini.

Atmosphere is lovely but the food was just okay. We wanted to love it but none of the dishes were that great. It was expensive for the food quality.

While artisanal food is typical of Tuscany, this restaurant and enoteca in its gorgeous former monastry setting excells at it. The carpaccio had a very refined touch and the pici con ragu and tagliata were tremendous. Highly recommended. We also wanna go for just a glass of wine.

Chiostro is in an ancient cloister in Sarteano, a small hilltop town with castle near Montepulciano in Tuscany. The position, ambiance, service and food are all excellent and worthy of high praise. We are hard to please and can easily recommend this place to our friends and family.

This hidden gem did not disappoint. We entered through the bar entrance and it appeared to be an unassuming cantina with suspended swing chairs. We were directed to the restaurant area upstairs and to our surprise this opens up to a beautiful open piazza and lovely dining area upstairs overlooking the piazza. The building was an old monastery and it looks amazing. The food and service did not disappoint and this was the best dining experience we had while staying in Sarteano. Do not overlook this little gem.

This ancient renovated monastery was so lovely - beautiful enough for a wedding or other large event venue. The service was delightful and the food was “squisito”! If staying in the area, this is a place you must visit! Hopefully the owner will give you the history of this family enterprise!

Wonderful atmosphere at this charming restaurant in an old palatial home found at the end of a quaint street in Sarteano. Excellent choice of wines and meals. Had the Ratatouille starter and pasta bolognese with the most delicious Tiramisu for dessert. Lovely and attentive staff. Definitely try this place!

Food was mixed. Good starter and pasta but main courses were disappointing with steak and pork a bit too fatty or tough.

The Osso Bucco that was served was terrible. It was so tough it was inedible. The meals also took a long time to arrive. The beef that was served was dry. It needed a sauce. We were disappointed with the meal, especially since we had previously visited and the meals at that time were very good.

Good evening. I would ask myself a question you put that we are very expensive compared to more than 500 reviews who say we are cheap you put that we are very slow compared to more than 500 reviews who say the opposite that the dishes are not good compared to 500 reviews that say the cuisine is excellent and if it is true that you have already been here, the kitchen staff has not changed for 8 years ... it is not that the problem is yours, and not ours !!! Best regards Carlo Cozzi Lepri

The venue and ambiance was just spectacular. We got a full history of the property which really added to the whole experience. And the staff were all amazingly friendly and spoke English very well. We were really taken care of. I struggled on rating of the food. It was quite good but for our tastes, it just lacked a little bit of seasoning/salt. Of course that is all very subjective and others may find It perfectly seasoned. Quality of the food was very good though. I would definitely return and still highly recommend.

Excellent food and good service. The welcome we received was somewhat cold. If the management could get that right, this would be a fabulous place to dine.

It's in a lovely old building and serves decent food but service is slow and haphazard. The team seems frazzled and there is no warmth shown to customers. There are better places.

Don’t let the outside fool you, that’s only the bar area. Inside is a lively open courtyard where you can have a drink on dine in the areas surrounding it. Steak and chicken dishes were excellent, along with the smiling service. Do not miss.

We had an amazing dinner at chiostro cennini. The ambiance was very cozy, with the restaurant hidden in ancient palace surrounded by rock walls with a beautiful garden in the center. The waiter explained all the historical background of the restaurant which was bought by their family and completely refurbished to make it as it is today. Food was delicious, we had a Fiorentina steak, some typical Tuscan croutons with liver cream on top and two glasses of wine. Price/quality ratio was just perfect in my opinion. Recommended.

The restaurant is set amid a small medieval cloister, hence the name, with archeological relics scattered about. We had 2 of the 3 steak dishes offered, one with vin santo reduction sauce. Wonderful. The staff and owners are young and the place has a rustic sophistication that sets it apart from the many wonderful but more traditional options in the area. There was live music in a separate cavern room after dinner. The bar room is swinging, literally. You’ll have to check it out to see why!

Beautiful restaurant ruined by lifeless staff who just seem annoyed to serve you, and dont ask how you are doing, if you like your food, if there's anything you need...very slow service, food was average, definitely not up to the standard of most restaurants in the area. Over salted and overcooked pici pasta, ravioli were tasteless and floating on the plate from the water in from the boiling pot. Meat was decent but nothing special. It could be an amazing place thanks to the building it's in and beautiful surroundings but the staff and food ruined the experience.

Excellent meal in great surroundings. My only criticism was that they did not reduce bill by the agreed 20% until I asked and they then apologised and adjusted the bill. Will go back again in future.
