As someone who has been to the Clown Bar a number of times, this experience was truly the most disappointing and made me reconsider wanting to go again. Either the restaurant is under new ownership or the departure of the previous chef has impacted the service significantly. For the prices of the dishes, I cannot justify the quality of the service. We waited a good 45 minutes between our first and second course, and a good 30 minutes for a dessert (a sorbet albeit). At no moment (until the very end), were we checked in on or were apologies extended to our group. This may be an exception in what is in a otherwise exceptional track record, but needless to say I was super sad and will not be returning any time soon or recommending. Alas!

The food and wine was tremendous at clown bar. The service was top notch and the staff really knows their wine list quite well. Highly recommended and will certainly return.

Overall very well balanced plates and interesting combinations. The duck pithivier was really very well executed: perfectly cooked and the jus very lean and tasty. Very good and interesting wine list.

We had a 2:30 reservation and arrived promptly at 2:30. I used the bathroom and as soon as i returned the waitress told us we had to order NOW as the kitchen was closing. We felt very rushed and would have gladly come at 2:15 is that would have been better. The food was great and after that initial pressure the waitress was very helpful. The restaurant was very quiet and really had no “mood” to speak of as it is very small.

Visited here a couple years ago. Thought it was really interesting. Recently visited again, was rather disappointed. Practically the same menu almost entirely Americans. Not nearly the original snappy place I visited before. Nothing really bad, just rather ordinary

We showed up with an extra person in tow and they accommodated us very graciously. The restaurant is small and the tables are tiny. I would not recommend adding to your party, but the wait staff was very kind and cheerful during our visit and didn't complain at all. The food was superb and we had an excellent wine, a rose from Sicily, that was particularly excellent. It is available by the glass as well. I eat here frequently as it is just across the street from my apartment and it is now one of my favorite local spots.

Terrible experience. I have been wanting to try the Clown Bar for 2 years since I moved to Paris. I finally go with friends and encountered a terrible manager that was so rude and obnoxious that neither I nor my friends will ever go back. As soon as I arrived I went to the restroom and noticed that there was a ton of smoke in the kitchen. It looked like there was a fire that they just put it out. I could hardly breathe. I went back upstairs and the smoke was filling up the whole back of the restaurant. We asked the manager to open the door and air out the restaurant and he did. However, a customer closed the door. I went back and opened the door and the same customer closed it again. I asked the manager to please handle the situation since everyone in the back of the restaurant could not breathe and was coughing. He started getting mad and irritated with me and my friends because we wanted him to air out the restaurant and kept asking him to help us. He was so rude and mean that we decided to leave.

absolutely lives up to the hype. tiny and the high tops are a challenge to juggle a meal for two on. in cold weather stay away from the door because the servers go in and out a lot. the food is imaginative and well executed. good price point for the area. great wine list. reserve a must .

It was very cold in the restaurant and they initially gave us a table beside the door. However when a table came free they reseated us and gave us blankets in the meantime. The food is imaginative, the portions very large, so you need to be hungry. Wine was disappointing, staff very attentive and charming.
