10/10A pleasant surprise. We went to see the Fernando Pessoa house and looked for a nearby restaurant with good reviews. We found the Clube de Jornalistas. The atmosphere is very pleasant, away from the hustle and bustle of tourists. We were very well received and the food was delicious. We will definitely be back if we are ever in Lisbon again.

9/10I have spent the last 2 weeks in Portugal and this by far was the cherry ontop. The food was absolutely exceptional. We loved our experience from the start to finish, with the waiter tending to our every need. His recommendations and positive attitude made the experience that much better. The portion sizes were perfect and the quality in the food was top notch. I will 100% be coming back if I ever find myself in Lisbon again.

This is a gem of a place! Walking up the hill provides you the appetite for one of our best meals in Lisbon. You are greeted with a sip of sparkling wine. The roasted eggplant appetizer with miso dressing was delicious. Don’t forget to make room for dessert. We had the eucalyptus ice cream and the bread pudding, both are not to be missed.

+1Amazing! Spectacular meal from start to finish. Tonight was the Natal special menu. We started with the delicately cured fish on an airy, crispy perfectly flavored rice cracker, moved onto the Christmas suckling pig on book choy and sweet potatos, and finished with the French toast with parsnip crema and pistachios. All of it was out of this world. This was accompanied by a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon and Sousão blend called Inferno that was also wonderful. We could not have had a nicer Christmas Eve. The friendliness and warmth of the staff was the cherry on top. We will be back!

10/10Wow, what a dining experience! It was not only our best meal on our trip to Portugal and Spain, but one of our favorite meals ever. The restaurant provided a quiet, welcoming, relaxed atmosphere. Staff were professional and courteous. We enjoyed delicious local wine with our meal. We started out with really nice bread and then we had the eggplant appetizer. All we can say is wow, wow, wow. Eggplant with caramel and miso and pistachios. Seemingly an odd combination, but it worked to perfection. Our main dishes were prawns with risotto, ginger and mango and the othe dish was gnocchi with shitake mushrooms Both dishes were fantastic. For dessert we had the chocolate soup which was a perfect way to finish our meal. We were fortunate to have a lengthy discussion with the owner who was really nice and who had obvious pride in her establishment. We highly encourage you to try this wonderful restaurant!

I was craving to go to this restaurant for the last five years. Finally, I made it, and it definitely met and exceeded my expectations! I like fine food & wine, history, good stories attached to places, and I value kindness. The Clube de Jornalista and its staff meet them all. I was at the door a bit before the opening hour, welcomed inside and invited to take a seat on the sofa, while the waiter offered a glass of sparkling wine. Once at the table, I enjoyed the classic furniture, while savouring my meal and listening to the waiter telling the story of the club to the guests. I had pumpkin soup, eggplant with miso caramel and pistacho, and my favorite one of them all: black rice with duck. That is a dish that I will remember!

10/10Hands down my favorite restaurant in Lisbon- I've been more than a dozen times over a period of six years. The food is unfailingly delicious- do not miss the miso eggplant starter, the ceviche, the lamb kefta burger, the octopus, the salmon, or the iberian pork. And for dessert the chocolate soup and poejo ice cream can't be beat.

4.5/10The room we were seated in lacked atmosphere. It had poor lighting. We felt like we were in a cafeteria. The food was just mediocre, nothing special given the price. On the plus side, we didn’t like the first bottle of wine we tried so the waitress gave us another. As a whole we were disappointed though.

10/10The entrance is understated - leading you into a complex of different rooms, a little like someone’s house! Decorated tastefully in a Portuguese style, the rooms are well laid out & lit for a fantastic evening ambiance. The food was again Portuguese/Spanish and all courses were delicious. The beef carpaccio was a particular favourite for our party. For mains, 2 of us had the pork, 1 the salmon teriyaki & I had the risotto . All were delicious! In truth, I can’t recall the desserts - except that we had 6 between the 4 of us because we couldn’t choose! Service was excellent throughout the night! A little off the main drag but definitely worth making time for!

9/10Delightful setting in courtyard. Food was disappointing compared to what we expected. Access to courtyard requires walking down stairs with no hand rail which we never saw noted. Service and ambience was excellent.

10/10Had a delightful “contemporary” Portuguese lunch on the terrace. Weather was beautiful and the food was delicious. We had two appetizers to start : the eggplant and white fish ceviche and split the shrimp risotto as our main. Beautiful presentation and wonderful flavors. Definitely an out of the way location- but worth the trip!
