A very special place in Lisbon: the food, the staff, the building, the wine selection.... everything is lovely

+4Wonderful ambiance, welcoming staff and delicious food. What a wonderful experience

Our food was amazing, especially the mushroom gnocchi! Loved the sparkling wine at the start of the meal. Service was great. Loved the ambience, but the family that allowed their small children to scream disrupted our dinner and conversation. Maybe seat families with children in a separate room?

We went yesterday for my birthday and were absolutely spoilt. The staff were so welcoming and our waitress Daniella went above and beyond to create the best experience for us. We opted for the tasting menu full of chef’s picks and it was all outstanding. Highlights were the ceviche and the octopus. A real hidden gem and we will be back next time we’re in Lisbon!

Outstanding food - quirky menu, but everything was great. I had the black rice / duck option and it was totally delicious, as was the eggplant starter.

Always a lovely place. The food has become better I think! Delicious.

Nice modern interpretation of portuguese cuisine

Beautiful venue with several cozy rooms in an old but well maintained building in a historic part of town. Great service, very knowledgeable about Portuguese food and wine. I felt the standard of the food preparation had dropped a little in some of the dishes since my last visit a year ago. But the menu remains interesting with vegan/vegetarian options as well as good interpretations of traditional Portuguese dishes.

Our visit to Clube de Jornalistas was overall very pleasant. The atmosphere is lovely and the service was impeccable — attentive, professional, and welcoming throughout the evening. The food was good, though not exceptional. Overall, the dishes were missing a final touch, particularly in terms of seasoning and depth of flavor. The pumpkin soup was very simple and, unfortunately, a bit bland. The lemon risotto was enjoyable, and the fish stood out for its excellent cooking point. The highlight of the meal was the octopus with sweet potato purée, which was outstanding both in texture and taste. In summary, the restaurant offers a beautiful setting and excellent service, paired with good food that, while enjoyable, lacks the extra refinement to make it truly memorable.

Fabulous food and a great recommendation.

An excellent meal with superb service and great value for money. Feel a little bad for only giving 4 for ambience as it was a Tuesday evening and early so not many people - thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will be back again soon

We really loved this restaurant. The atmosphere, the service, and the food were all excellent. Anyone who visits is truly lucky! We’d love to come back in warm weather to enjoy their beautiful terrace.

What a fantastic restaurant. Wonderful and interesting menu, food served professionally and with charm. It’s an absolute must visit place.

The food was fantastic and the setting was lovely. It was so unexpected when we went in the front door but it opened to a converted house with old typewriters. After going through the various rooms, we exited through a back door, down stone stairs, to the dining patio which was strewn with lights. It was a fantastic evening.

My favourite place in Lisbon. I've been coming here on every visit for ten years and it remains as charming and lovely as always. Beautiful space, lovely staff, great food. Everything about it is perfect.

The food, atmosphere, and un hurried dining experience in the beautifully lit garden was a lovely end to a busy day.

We loved having a tour of the space and learning about the history of the building and the.Relevance of the name. The food was delicious and not ordinary fare. Our server could have been more attentive. However she came and went.

I always enjoy coming here when in Lisbon. It's such a magical setting - starting with the fact that on the outside it's just a nondescript door on a quiet street, so you have to know that it's there, and you have to have made a reservation. This already makes you feel privileged, and then you get to sit in the anteroom to get your first glimpse of the house and all the artifacts, typewriters of all models and ages. Then you are escorted down to the leafy patio, strung with lights around every umbrella. And then you are blown away by the food. The dishes are very unique and creative and always delicious. this time I had the eggplant in a caramel sauce with pistachios, which may sound weird but trust me, it's so good. And the prawn/mango risotto was excellent as well. I can highly recommend Clube de Jornalistas to anyone, though part of me would prefer to keep it an insider's secret!

Delicious food, pleasant atmosphere, and friendly, professional staff who are genuinely interested.

The restaurant rested on a very steep hill in one of Lisbon’s many narrow streets. Upon gaining entrance (door bell top left) I was impressed at how this was once a very grand home. I was escorted into the large courtyard with many sun shades all beautifully lit, one gets the send of travelling back in time… The service was impeccable the manager was warm, friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and the house wine (two glasses, I was a solo diner) was quite delicious. I shall definitely make a beeline for this delightful restaurant next time I’m in Lisbon and shall be forwarding their details to anyone whom I know is travelling to Lisbon. A uniquely wonderful experience… Warmest regards, Lilian

i had one bite of my main course and spit it out immediately. It tasted terrible.

The ambience were wonderful. Our outdoor seating in the back patio was refreshing. The appetizers were marvelous. Unfortunately, the main courses fell short, sounding good on the menu, but a bit over-cooked and somewhat dry.

From the moment we arrived until we left, service was exceptional. The food is so good, we will be telling everyone that visits Lisbon they MUST come here for dinner, simply superb!

July 2025. It is very hot this week in Lissabon. We sat outside in the most romantic ‘garden’. The atmosphere is wonderful. The service is great - the food excellent. There is also huge area to sit inside in coldwr weather. We lived in this area during pur vacation and the whole area is so nice.

The appetizers were delicious and the entrees were good. Our only gripe was with the service. Our server couldn’t tell us anything about the dishes or the wines. It made the overall dinner less pleasant.

+2We’re so glad we decided to visit on our last day in Lisbon — and even more glad we did! The food was absolutely perfect ! We loved the roasted eggplant, white fish ceviche, and veal carpaccio. For mains, we shared black pork neck, fish of the day, and octopus with sweet potato purée. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!
