I just arrived in Afferden this morning for a business trip. The wonderful hotel at which I am staying doesn't offer Sunday dining. So I searched on Trip Advisor and found this restaurant. I booked a table for 1 at 630 PM. I arrived on time and accidentally tried to go in the wrong door, which is when the host came out and said are you Mr Rice. where would you like to be seated. That was very classy. Since it was such a beautiful day, I chose to sit outside on their nicely decorated, covered porch. The hostess brought the menu and said they only have Dutch menus and he could help me if I didn't speak the language. I don't Dutch, but I took two years of German in college which at least allowed me to have a general understanding of what was on menu. Nonetheless, I pulled out my phone and used the Google Translate app to take a picture of each page which immediately provided an accurate English translation of every menu entry. I ordered the three fish salad as an appetizer and the Panga fish entree as a main course. I also ordered a glass of the house Sauvignon Blanc as an accompaniment. The food and wine were outstanding, but far too much food for me to eat, The entree came with fries, roasted potatoes, broccoli and cauliflower, a small side salad, and a few slices of a baguette. The service was impeccable. This is a gem of restaurant and I will definitely be back the next time I visit.
