8/10Don Carlos is a lovely and well-appointed restaurant near La Scala. The service is courteous and friendly. The captain and waiters were first class. The only disappointed factor is the food. This was my second visit and my reaction to their menu was regretfully quite different both times. The initial visit about 4 years ago was memorable. The dishes were traditional and prepared with considerable flair. On my recent visit, the food choices were not good. The chef sadly decided to revamp his menu and instead of improving it, weakened it. He unsuccessfully attempted to approach a semi-novelle-cuisine approach that was beyond his capabilities. Furthermore, his "improvisations" failed to blend with the elegant surroundings. Too bad.

10/10+2Magdi greeted us at the door and promptly sat us at a lovely table. The restaurant has an old world charm that was perfect for a Sunday evening. We had let the restaurant know that we were opting for the 6-course Chef’s Choice tasting menu; it was fantastic! Each course was just the right amount of food with amazing flavors and creative combinations. The pace of the meal was spot on, giving us time to relax a minute and enjoy the wine we had ordered. Magdi and Roberto (?) were very attentive and efficient and extremely friendly. The evening passed by quickly and, by the end we were beyond satisfied. Don Carlos is definitely a restaurant to seek out when in Milan. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

10/10We had a wonderful dinner here with our daughter, food was excellent, service was even better. We ordered parmigiana, the eggplant was perfectly cooked and the whole dish was a dream, Strongly recommand also cotoletta and risotto. Definitely will go back!

9.5/10The small restaurant, 10 tables in the ornate hotel was very genuine old world and the ambiance tremendous. The main courses ordered were perfection with additional home made crostini, bread, pastries and chocolates all made the meal exceptional. The wine list was top end and diverse, marvellous! A very special meal.

9/10We had a wonderful dinner at Don Carlos. It was a rather unplanned evening but the warm and welcoming staff made the dinner a wonderful one. The venue appears to have been the ?drawing room in its previous role in the building and that added to the comfortable atmosphere. the steak was a bit overdone but the ravioli in a clear broth was magical. Mad ethe whole night complete.

10/10Don Carlos it is a unique place: great food, best ambiance and best of the best staff. The recipes and plates are great. Setting, and use of the tableware is precise. But above all, the staff is eager to make you feel special, and every recommendation they give you is planned to make your meal a memorable one! I really loved Don Carlos from alpha to omega!

10/10Excellent dinner in good company at my favorite restaurant in Milano. Maitre d’ Davide and his colleagues took very good care of us despite our slightly late arrival. Menu, table, ambience and service were all superb. Such a distinct joy to be dining again in this beautiful venue after three long Covid years. Very highly recommended my friends.

10/10An amazing meal, fantastic service super friendly & knowledgeable about gluten free. Great ambience with table nicely spaced for comfortable dinning. Very knowledgeable about the right wine for the wonderful food served. Definitely try this as we are organising a second visit. Many thanks

5/10I am stunned and bewildered that this is a 1 star Michelin restaurant. The beef tartare, while generous in proportion, possesses zero flavour. The 30 euro foie gras terrine was a tiny sliver of mediocrity on a plate. The Milanese risotto came to table with a thick skin suggested it has been under warming lights for some time. The staff, while polite, lacked the polish and experience one expects at this level of establishment. The waiter removed a 20 Euro glass of Chardonnay from the table with a quarter of the glass yet to be drank.

10/10The top Italian restaurant in Milan, and I have been to a lot. Very nice "The Godfather" style and great quality of all the food. Dishes are traditionals in Milan but with a very high quality touch of innovation. A MUST for food lovers, and for those looking to taste Milan gastronomy. As a high quality restaurant, prices will round 50-60€/person that I loved to pay.

10/10Very nice ambiance and unique decor, you like it or not, we did. Food was excellent,from the beginning to the end, especially the foie gras and the scallops. Waitress was helpful, guided us through the wine list and recommended some very nice which turned out to make the dinner more than just a dinner. Bravo a tutti

10/10I've been to this restaurant 2-3 times this year and each time it gets better. Excellent food, superb service and excellent wines by the glass. Based upon my experience in Milan and I've been to a majority of starred Michelin restaurants Don Carlos ranks with the very best. Very highly recommended

7/10Personaly, the setting of Don Carlos is probably one of the most charming restaurant in Milan. This small space with old world vibe set in The Grand Hotel Milan was somewhat unexpected but absolutely lovely. However the cuisine was dated and the overall tasted just okay and the execution certainly doesn't match the price tags... With a bit of right adjustment, I feel this place has a chance to come back live. All the Best !!!

10/10An excellent restaurant in the heart of Milan. Food is excellent and both ambiance and service top rate. The background music they play is both beautiful and soothing. I have been to Don Carlos several times and overall this dinner was the best I have had there. Seems the restaurant constantly innovates. Very highly recommended

10/10This was our last meal at the end of a 1 month vacation in Italy & we wanted it to be something special and it certainly lived up to our expectation. The service was friendly & efficient & the food delicious. The added extras; bread, starter, petite fours & limoncello totally made it worth spending a little extra for a top meal.

9/10Ambiance was amazing ! Interior, music, service are excellent!!! Cuisine for me is excellent because I like contemporary kitchen , I like the mix of different flavors... As for my husband ( he is concervator ) he said that it is good . We liked our evening at this restaurant!!! Thank you !
