Overall a good surprise. Tasty food with a nice staff. We went for the duck and octopus options, which had a great preparation and flavors. A bit pricey but worth it. Outside area was quite wet, including table, chair and under the menu, I’d just suggest a bit more attention to such detail. Beyond that, good value with a great view.

I was so disappointed with dinner at Dona Maria. This was our second meal with the restaurant and we enjoyed the first so much that we returned. Dinner was so terrible. Appetizers: We sent the mushy garlic shrimp in olive oil back after we each ate one bite. Mush like mashed potatoes. We enjoyed the goat cheese croquettes, we also ate this at lunch. Main Course: Our main courses were the duck magret (cooked to the proper temperature but the fat wasn’t rendered). My bacalou was utterly soft and slimy. I tried to find firmer pieces to eat and gave up. The skin of the fish was “flubbery” I’m not sure this is an actual word but it best describes what it looked like. The fish was also full of bones (some small, some large) so if I’d wanted to eat it, I’d be pulling bones out constantly. What happened to the wonderful food we ate the day before$2 The service was great. They really want their diners to be happy. The restaurant is beautiful. If the weather was better they have a lovely outdoor dining area. Because of the wildly inconsistent food I can’t recommend this restaurant.

Great views but you eat those a bit like one course. Cod was overcooked and not the freshest and spinach inedible. There are better restaurants in Sintra. Service was good so hope they get their act together.

Great view. Awful, Awful food.

Very good, especially for the price. Large portions. High quality. Drinks were very good. I highly recommend the sea bream and sea rice.

Worst food I’ve ever had one dish was raw the other over cooked

Great little spot , with fine food , friendly team and a fabulous view out over Sintra. Parking a bit of a challenge so best to park bellow and walk up through the charming winding stone stairs to build up an appetite

Completely unexpected, best view of the whole city. The food was great, and the place beautiful. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Food was good and service was courteous even if there was only 1 waiter for the entire restaurant. Ambience is quite pleasant both in the terrace -- great view -- and indoors -- nice rooms with old painted walls; there was an annoying draft of cold air at our table. The major setback is transportation in Sintra: it is extremely difficult to park a car and I had to drive for 10 miles just to get to a parking that was 500 yards away in straight line..

One would never imagine what lies behind the iron gate and then the door of inconspicuous building in Sintra. A one-of-a-kind restaurant, with walls painted with bucolic scenes it has a nostalgic, yet modern, atmosphere. The three rooms offer comfortable seats and generous tables set with tablecloths. The view towards the Palácio da Vila and Sintra's rooftops is an added bonus, making this a wonderful place to have a serene lunch ou dinner. Food was faultless. The Game Sausage Croquettes with a Mustard and Honey Dip starter were very good, although I consider the dip could have a stronger, more pungent, taste. The Shrimp, Clam and Mussel Rice, was delicious, as was the Dona Maria Cod, which had an interesting aroma that I couldn't quite pinpoint. We paired the food with Terras de Uva red wine. Service was irreproachable.

The inside room was very beautifully decorated, and they waited for us even when we were 40 minutes late. It is in the centre of the city, just some steps away from the central square. The food was average, but their spinach is really good, and also the risotto with spinach

Good food, a bit expensive but is okay with the 30% discount

Excellent meal with a lovely view. Good service, nice table and chairs. A great experience and rather close to a 10/10. Just a bit short because of minor things like the surface layer of the house could have used a face-lift and nothing really giving me the "wow"-feeling.

The very good view of Sintra makes it a pleasure to have a meal here. Food is OK (although not great), but it's worth trying this place if you're in Sintra.

Nice view but not superb, the waiter forgot to apply 30% discount at the end, the food was commercial, nothing nice. We do not recommend.

The restaurant is tacky and kind of stuck in a bygone era. The service was pleasant but the tasteless music running on loop from a stereo on the floor was a bit of a mood killer, as was the chill running in from the wide open front door. The food was serviceable overall, but nothing to write home about.

just to tell that we were very pleased about the restaurant just one bad thing was the "sangria branca" in our opinion it was just juice fruit.

The server wasn’t nice, and the food was extremely desapointed. Also, the cuisine closed around 21:00 so we had to run to finish the meal. Very very desapointed

Located in the steep hills above Sintra city center, Dona Maria has good views and a lovely, small outside patio. Inside is more formal in appearance but comfortable and light-filled. The menu offers casual and formal meals, from burgers to salads to meat and fish courses. We ordered trout and steak with mushroom sauce. The trout was not seasoned and bland, unusual for trout; had it not been wrapped in prosciutto it would have been like eating air. The steak was that terribly thin, well-done, chewy beef that is usual in a cafe or local place but not expected at this spot. Wines by the glass was a nice option and good quality wine. Service for us and other tables was quite good. Just mediocre to poor food. Except for the goat cheese appetizer, which was delicious. Will not return except for a glass of wine and an appetizer on the patio.

The place is beautiful with a nice terraze and a great view. The food is not great: cod and octopus too coocked and full of garlic. starters very basic and bread-based most of them. The atmosphere is lovely but we thought the quality was going to be better for the price.

Food was very good and the views from the terrace were amazing. I would recommend it.

Bad service. Also read the fine prints if they announce a discount.

No attention to detail from both front of house and chefs. We waited for 10 mins before we were seated in an empty dinning room, they got the order wrong, no music, little atmosphere. I will not be returning!
