I’ve eaten here often and always enjoyed it. Today was the exception… while the food was mostly of the same quality (good) the service was lacking, inattentive, rushed, and verging on rude. Having experience in the industry, I always bend toward giving staff the benefit of the doubt but our waiter made it more than obvious that he’d rather not be there and even though there were only a few tables at the time he was already frustrated.

Honestly a very disappointing dining experience. I learnt about Eataly when being in Canada and was eager to try it at its place of origin, thinking that with freshly sources ingredients the food would be amazing as the one in Toronto was really really good. However the food was mediocre at best. The Caesar salad had a vinaigrette dressing instead of Caesar dressing. The salumi were also not the best, much better ones are sold at local shops and the service was disappointing. We were forced to help our dirty cutlery because we had a second course, waiting times were long and with more customers arriving after us we were completely forgotten about. The ambiance also was a weak point, as the plastic chairs looked cheap and the squeaky escalator made me feel like in a mall food court

i come here every now and then when in Bologna… good specials, good selection of wines, generally dependable offerings. Staff is helpful and friendly. And i love to be surrounded by books! (the Eataly Trattoria is located on the premises of the Coop Ambasciatori Bookstore).
