the ambience is great and we really liked the Moulin Rouge theme. The food was good but maybe we just expected a little more wow if you look at the prices. They didn't have the lamb I ordered but the alternative was fine as well. Service was a little hectic but that's understandable with Christmas. Nice place!

The food was good, although not memorable. What was unpleasant was the pressure of the waiters to keep on ordering stuff, the speed in collecting dishes without even asking if they may etc. Felt like "time is money" and they didn't have any to waste.

The whole evening was a very nice Experience with Perfect Food and Perfect service. The only two things which were a little bit disturbing were the little too loud music although it was very good music and we now know that it is essential for the feeling in the restaurant. we also had to wait and ask ourselves for a wine recommendation. Nevertheless we would recommend el portal for everybody who likes nice dinners and would be very pleased to come back at our next visit.

As visitors, we do not know what is typical. The restaurant is small and pretty loud. Maybe some people like that. The wait staff is excellent, but be prepared to pay for everything they set at the table. Bread, water, etc. is all charged. The food itself is really delicious and the menu has a great variety of items, including several caviar and small dishes. The food we ate was excellent. The wine list is well done. The prices are reasonable. It was fairly crowded and appeared to be very popular.

Had to send back main dish for 3 as it was not cooked to order. Bad quality of meat, but good taste. The lamb was OK. In the menue it was not explained that some dishes had to be 2 og more to order, Canfusing. To be in a tourist metropole as Alicante I think the staff was bad in foreigh languages.

Fabulous place for a special occasion. We have been twice. It is pricey but worth it. The staff are very knowledgeable. Happy to advise. Wine waiter brought us two bottles to choose from and explained both of them. We wanted the morrocan lamb pasty (not on the menu this time) however, the man with the glasses said he would get it for us. The crab legs are delicious. Can't fault it for a special occasion. We will be going back

El Portal recommended by a friend. Booked Monday so surprised to be at the fish bar but not a problem. Loved the herring and egg starters. Chose a glass of the Pinka each as loved the history behind the vineyard. The waiter persuaded us away from the classic hake tempura towards Sea Bass in salt. Beautifully cooked but wow what a portion. Our second glass of wine was a mistake by the waiter as he poured it onto the first! Given to us a a complimentary drink however we returned to the Pinka to finish. Great evening meal.

The atmosphere was cozy and classy. The food was fancy and I might have been a bit too brave in my choices. Over all it was a good experience.
