4/10Unfortunately a disappointing experience our reservations were for 730. They gave us difficulties about using a high chair and told us to just use the couch…. We ordered appetizers which took 1 hour and 30 min to arrive. Our entrees took over 2 hours. The food quality was disappointing, shrimp was very very overcooked. Do not recommend. Servers were great ! Very nice and bubbly !

10/10Maybe the best meal of our trip to Portugal. Arrived for 9pm, only outside seating available for our large group of 7. It was a bit chilly out, but heaters and blankets were provided. Excellent, attentive service. Limoncello sangria was amazing. Everyone loved their entrees; steak perfectly done, prawn pasta, octopus, and clam pasta. Deserts were also devine. Highly recommend if you’re in Lisbon.

10/10We LOVE Fernando!!! My family came here on our first night in Lisbon and it was outstanding. Fernando our server was very attentive and made the effort to get to know us which was a rare experience. The food and specifically the sweet potato sauce on our dishes was the best!!! We even came back on our final night to say goodbye to Fernando :) we wish you the best and continue being the best server that you are!!! Highly recommend for those visiting Lisbon

10/10Judging by the many excellent reviews this restaurant has received I’m not sure they’ll notice one more! This reservation was such a great choice. From our initial warm greeting to the service given to us by the lovely attentive waitresses especially Roshani we were treated to an evening of excellent food and wine. Our party all marvelled at each others choices with no one having a feeling of food envy as each dish looked and tasted as delicious as each others. My own choice of beef carpaccio and the large prawn pasta followed by the surprise dessert of chocolate brownie topped with warm banana bread and vanilla ice cream were all bloomin’ delicious. We just wish we hadn’t only booked a table for our last night because had we known we probably would have been there every night!

10/10We love this restaurant! Lovely & comfortable, with excellent food. Good variety on the menu, with something for everyone. Terrific wine from their own winery. Everything has always been a 10 out of 10 every time we have eaten at Em Alta Na Baixa!

10/10This is a wonderful place for special occasions or just casual dining. The menu is well rounded and everything was excellent. The service is wonderful and our server, Elaina, went above and beyond to make our experience a memorable one. I can't wait to go back and try the next thing on the menu.

4.5/10Terrible service. From the rude greeting hostess to the waitress that got our order all wrong and was never concerned about serving us properly. The waitresses kept nagging on each other. Food was good but the mediocre service made the whole experience very unpleasant. Not recommended, never return.

10/10Wonderful food - beautiful setting! We had several fish/shrimp dishes - and the octopus. All excellent! The food alone would have made the evening - but our server put it over the top. Fernando was as much our host - as server. Knowledgeable, charming, perfectly attentive!

10/10The best dinner we had in Lisboa! Service was good and the food was excellent. I would definetely come back again. We had our dinner on Saturday and booked the table on Friday. I would recommend this restaurant 100 % A 10/10!

5/10The worst service we have ever come across. It was 1 hr and 20 mimutes before we got our food. The wine which I requested 3 times came as we were finishing our msin course. It was as if they listened to you went away and totally forgot what was said. Food average at best.

10/10Had a really enjoyable dinner here with delightful cocktails, good wine, delicious food and wonderful, friendly service. PS The only thing that can make a great Pastel de Nata even more fabulous is to serve it with cinnamon ice cream.

9/10A very lovely first dinner in Lisbon. The starters were delicious. My main was a pasta dish which was gorgeous. I would have liked slightly more pasta but there were plenty of clams. The duck main was a little tough but staff were very responsive to this and cooked it more which improved it. Would recommend particularly for the friendly service.

8.5/10A very nice restaurant just outside the tourist area where the hawkers shove menus in your face. There were several nice booths that allowed for intimate dining. Unfortunately we got the small table looking out on the graffiti strewn construction area. Our server, Fernando, was friendly and knowledgeable about all the dishes on the menu and gave good recommendations on the wines. The food was good but the highlight was the estate wine from the restaurant owner’s vineyard, who stopped by the table and chatted about the winery and the reasons we would not be able to find his wine and many other wines from small wineries from Portugal when we got home.

10/10We enjoyed a final evening together with a Portuguese dinner in this gorgeous restaurant. It was a perfect dinner to end a lovely trip to Lisbon. Staff were so kind and welcoming. The food and drink were absolutely delicious. We were treated to a beautiful final meal in Lisbon.

10/10We celebrated my husband’s birthday here and we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Excellent wines, food and friendly service. The ambience was lovely and the staff were attentive and yet not over-bearing.. am so glad we were recommended by a friend to dine here.

10/10We really enjoyed dinner here. I'm a little tough to please when it comes to restaurant meals because I enjoy cooking and it always bothers me if I get served something where I wish I would have just made something for myself but that was NOT the case here. I had the salmon with vegetables, and it was the best salmon I had in my life. I'm still thinking about how beautifully crispy the skin was and how perfect the texture of the fish was. My husband got the octopus, which he loved too. The atmosphere was maybe a little more like an American restaurant than a lot of other Portuguese restaurants - brighter lit, tables a little further apart, etc. I don't say that as a positive or negative. It just is. The night we came, a man was playing the violin. At first I was a little nervous because I wasn't feeling all that great and I thought the noise would be too much for me (sorry, musicians - for me, that night, even the loveliest music would have been "noise" if it were too loud). But his playing was very nice and not obtrusive at all, and he moved around the restaurant so that it was more of an occasional part of the night, rather than constant. We would definitely return. As I said, I enjoy cooking, but I can't make salmon like that to save my life.

10/10This restaurant was a great find, located in a quiet street. Food was delicious and the service was great. The place is cozy and beautifully decorated. They make you feel welcome from the beginning. The wagyu burger is great!

3/10We don't know how the food is because the waiter ignored us for 40 minutes without so much as a hello. There are plenty of other restaurants close by that will welcome you. Skip this one!

10/10Our meal at Em Alta na Baixa was the best of our trip. A lovely ambiance, excellent menu options and personal recommendations from Alex for food and wine, combined for a special experience. We would have eaten here again but had no opportunity as we had to return home. Don’t miss this restaurant on your visit to Lisbon!
