+2We learned more about this region in one half day visit (tour and class, followed by an exquisite lunch) then we would’ve learned if we were here for a month. This is a Don’t Miss recommendation.

10/10The wine pairing was incredible and the food was not only delicious, but beautiful presented. My only criticism was it was difficult to find the restaurant and a code was required to enter the gate, but I was not made aware prior.

10/10A wonderful dining experience. Vegetarian food was prepared to perfection and served with understated artistic flair. Staff was professional and seemed to enjoy their work. Ambience is superlative. The in glassed outdoor dining room is spectacular with views of the gardens and vineyards. We hope to return soon.

9/10The grounds of chateau Le Coste are unmatched. Absolutely gorgeous. Minimal and serene. Service is impeccable. Helene Darroze is not exception. The space is surrounded in glass and therefore feels like a part of the grounds more than being inside a restaurant. It’s a quiet experience. Not too many tables and people are subdued. We were certainly too boisterous for the environment but no one scolded us. The food is very good - if you like the small multi-course, 3-4 hour experience. We are more comfort food than foodies and therefore 1 star off for the food. Overall wonderful experience.

8/10Exploration of the menu and why the signature menu doesn't cost €190 as advertised online but €282. This price is much too high for a 1 star restaurant.

Dear Marcus Schoenaich, Our 7-courses menu does cost 190€ per person. There are indeed optional dishes with an extra cost and if you do select them all the menu can go up to 282€. 7.5/10A perfectly nice evening with agreeable food, focused on locally sourced vegetables. But when the bill is approaching €200 per person, we were missing the “wow” factor in terms of taste experience. Nothing really left the taste buds zinging. Service rating is low as again expectations are high and the first part of our evening was rather chaotic compared to what should be a perfectly choreographed “ballet” in this sort of restaurant. We were left waiting for a good 10 minutes after ordering water before being asked what aperitif we wanted. A second waiter then asked us what we wanted for water and aperitif. The amuse bouche when it finally arrived was put on the table with no explanation. Then were asked to pick our wine before we’d seen a menu. After that, things did settle into more of a well orchestrated order. The setting is a pretty terrace with views of the domaine and the valley. The ambiance is very low key and rather muted, with the piped music a bit “elevator”-like!

6.5/10We so much wanted to love this restaurant. First, it is not really situated in Aix-en-Provence, but in a remote outskirts 25 min drive away at the end of a long-winded road. The restaurant itself, the deco, and the ambiance are all beautiful. Unfortunately, the food has much to be desired. Top-notch ingredients, socially responsible and vegetarian friendly cuisine are all purposeful and good, but the taste is so mediocre, sometimes just awful. What is the point of getting everything right if the food doesn't taste good$1 It is a rare occasion where it gives Michelin a bad name. It gives the French cuisine a bad name. We have some overrated restaurants in NYC, but none comes close. I honestly can not recommend this restaurant.

10/10Very innovative and unusual food combinations in the price fixe that were delicately balanced and very delicious. One of our party had food poisoning the night before and couldn’t eat anything, and the restaurant was very understanding and accommodating, and we felt so welcome by the staff despite the misfortune of one person not being able to enjoy the meal. The restaurant is a work of art, and the outdoor patio (where we sat) is in a beautiful, breathtaking setting. Highly recommend!
