10/10Delicious food served by a wonderful host, who engaged with us (and all the customers) and offered her recommendations. They accommodated my dairy intolerance without a problem. Good value for lovely food and wine.

10/10Food was absolutely delicious. Not fancy, very real authentic restaurant. Great service - waitress was on her own serving everyone sat outside however did an excellent job and was very friendly. 10/10 would recommend to anyone visiting Bologna!!

10/10This restaurant turned out to be our go to place during a city break to Bologna. Slightly off the busy streets it’s well worth a visit. Great food, wine, bottled beer and excellent service. Booking in advance recommended. 👏👏👏🏴

10/10Excellent meal at an out-of-the-way hostaria. We ended up sitting outside as it was a warm night, and sitting inside, even downstairs, might have been a little uncomfortable. With our reservation made via Google/Fork, our table was ready for us when we arrived a few minutes early. We started with the Piatto di salumi, Tigelle, and a bottle of Bacche Nere. We dug into that bit of deliciousness (the lard melted into the Tigelle perfectly. For our main meal, I have the special tortelloni filled with pumpkin and my wife had the tortellini in brodo. All were very delicious and expertly prepared. The meal was finished with a wonderful bit of dolci - creme di mascarpone conscaglie di ciocccolato. The mascarpone was perfectly creamed and the cioccolato was just bitter enough to offset the sweetness of the mascarpone. If you are in Bologna, you own it to yourself to get to have a meal here. It is sublime.

7.5/10Booked last minute via The Fork. Arrived at 8 pm and had choice of seating. There are some tables near the bar and in an alcove. Also outside and downstairs seating. Given heat I would go for downstairs next time. Good selection of food for all courses via an on line menu. Had one starter between 3 and I then had the pork which was good. Others had the ravioli and enjoyed it. Wine list is long and we chose a white which was great value at under €20.

10/10Amazing food - we had three pasta dishes and two desserts, all of them were fantastic. Particularly recommend the Balanzoni in salsa verde al parmigiano and Semifreddo all'amaretto con riduzione di passion fruit. Great service and value for money.

7.5/10We were there on a Monday night and it was pretty busy, so we were pleased we had booked. The food was very tasty, a good wine list to choose from and the staff friendly. The servings were generous and the bill was not expensive at all, particularly given the quality. Recommend you give this restaurant a try when in Bologna.

10/10This little hostaria tucked away is a gem of a find. One of the best meals in Bologna. The food was exceptional value and really tasty and different choices . The staff where very friendly and helpful too . Great value for money would definetly return.

9.5/10We enjoyed a lovely evening at Hostera San Carlino. The staff was friendly and welcoming. There was a very nice wine list with a good variety of wine by the glass as well as by the bottle. The food was delicious. We will happily return on our next trip to Bologna.

10/10Small neighbourhoid traditional restaurant full of locals. Great food at reasonable price with friendly service. We had zukini flowers and salami, cheesecake artichokes to start and tortellini in broth and tagliatelle ragu to follow washed down with local red wine. Delicious!

6/10We booked on the basis of good reviews but we’re disappointed. We were a group of 7 and were only offered a table in the basement where there were no other diners and no atmosphere. Bologna is famous for tortellini but ours was pretty tasteless and undercooked. I left almost all of it. Our starters and desserts were good and some of the mains were ok but not memorable. Staff were friendly and helpful.
