The meal was on Christmas Day evening so choice was limited. The food was good and the service good. Ambiance is lacking. The restaurant is in a hotel but the man on the front desk was grumpy

Yes on Christmas eve, most of our hotel guests go out for diner to join their family or in Michelin guide restaurant, But we do offer more choices on regular day, and special meals on New year eve or Valentine's day for example. I tend to vote with my feet but both my partner and I thought this was one of the worst meals we have eaten. the staff were lovely but seemed genuinely surprised we had booked a table if were not staying at the hotel. that should have been a sign. the starters were a bit cold and tasteless, the duck in the cassoulet was badly burnt and the sausage was very dry, though the white beans were tasty if hard. my partners beef was ok but the potatoes were very cold and my cheese board was terrible and served just with sald, no bread. my other half said her dessert was OK. I can't stress enough that the staff were lovely but the food/ambience was terrible.

Firsts dishes were correct and the quality of the seconds was really low. Finally the desserts: our children (16 and 12 years old) ordered an ice cream and asked what flavors were available, but they did not respond. When they brought them, it was toffee, mint and red berries, unacceptable for a children's dinner. The service was really good, the kitchen did not: unfortunately we will not come back.
