I decided to try this restaurant based on reviews. The staff were very helpful, the setting was comfortable enough. For those who have not experienced Nonna's authentic cooking, I can understand why reviewers would say that the food was excellent. For me, it was good, not outstanding. I started with porcini mushrooms and polenta. It was ok. The salmon was also ok. The cantucci and Vin Santo was typical. The prices are similar to other restaurants. I can appreciate that food reviews are very subjective and based on an individual's particular preferences. That being said, my il Basilico was ok.

10/10This was our best dining experience during our Florence vacation. Our server, Stil, was exceptional. They were able to accommodate a gluten allergy. The food was absolutely incredible. Just an overall fantastic night at Il Basilico.

The best food and wine experienced on our 5 day trip to Italy. We booked here as it was close you our accommodation and the weather was poor but it turned out to be an absolute gem. Would recommend to anyone.

6.5/10We arrived just before 8.00 pm (which is when we booked for) and there was clearly no table reserved for us nor any acknowledgment of that. We stood with another couple (who didn’t have a booking) in the narrow gangway at the front of the restaurant not knowing whether they would have a table for us or not. I fully understand that they are Italian and we are English but there was no attempt to give us any assurance that there would be a table available. This wasn’t helped when someone arrived without a booking and was immediately shown to a table outside. After around 10 to 15 minutes some people left and we were shown to a table. I won’t go on but the service was slow. I ordered a bottle of wine which didn’t arrive and we weren’t offered dessert and probably would have ordered one. That’s an additional €40 they could have earned. Don’t get me wrong the food was excellent and compliments to the chef but the waiting staff were poor and simply didn’t communicate with us throughout.

10/10This was, by far, our best experience at a restaurant on our 10-day Italy trip. It is not the grandest, nor does it have the best view, but if you’re looking for an authentic Italian experience that is NOT a tourist trap, Il Basilico is the place. The food, service, and prices were the best that we’ve seen in any city. We ordered the carbonara pasta, Florentine steak, and pizza. We’d rate both the carbonara and pizza as the best we’ve eaten, and it was our only steak. Again, this is with very low prices even before they honored 20%-off for booking through The Fork. We were fortunate to have a server named Stil. He was the nicest personality we have ever met at a restaurant in our 29-years of existence. He can become your friend in 5 different languages. Unfortunately, if you are reading this over 1 year from now, I’m sure the Italian government will have built his statue in the Duomo and gifted him an early retirement villa in Tuscany by now. Highly recommend!

10/10I would highly recommend this restaurant! It was a little hard to find but definitely worth it! The ravioli with barata cheese & red sauce were excellent as well as the linguine with clams. We would highly recommend this restaurant!

9.5/10We booked lunch on the fork and the 30% discount was honored. We were very happy with the food! The gentlemen who worked there were very kind. Would highly recommend! Important to note, many places that say they are “air conditioned,” are not air conditioned to a comfortable level. This restaurant did not feel air conditioned, but that was our experience everywhere we went to eat. Adjust your expectations ahead of time and you won’t be disappointed while visiting in the summer months.

Fabulous food, the best of our 3-night stay in Florence. Service was 100% excellent and we benefited from a Fork timed discount too. The Florentine steak was cooked perfectly. Our waiter was super friendly but knew when to leave us alone too. I can’t praise this restaurant highly enough, it was superb. And the drinks prices are the cheapest around. Thank you!
