Il Cairoli is a pleasant restaurant inside a central Milan hotel, just a short walk from some of the city’s best landmarks. The menu features a selection of local and classic Italian dishes. I tried the Milanese cotoletta, which I found a little dry and underwhelming: the sides came plain, including the salad, though perhaps that’s simply the traditional way it’s served. The restaurant itself is comfortable, though it doesn’t really stand out in terms of atmosphere or personality. On the bright side, we enjoyed a really good bottle of Barolo, which was a highlight of the meal. The staff were lovely, and the overall value is fair. Worth a visit if you’re nearby.

Lovely food. Bread brought to table so we assumed it was included (as it had been everywhere else we ate in Milan). Another one brought and then taken away before finished. Both charged €5 each! Not very transparent.

The place looks nice, the service is good but the food is beyond disappointment. We were a group of three and all of us thought that the food is not even close to what we would expect from a good restaurant. When we asked if they have any sauce to accompany the dry meal that was brought to us we were given three choices: ketchup, mayo and mustard. We were in shock, we came to experience a good food and not McDonald’s.

Il Cairoli is in a very convenient location (part of Un Hotel) in a cute neighborhood close to our hotel near Duomo, it was a quick 1-2 stops via the metro and minutes from the exit. We were placed at a nice spot near a window as the sun was setting, there were other diners and guests of the hotel, though the staff were very attentive, kind and tried their best to communicate with us, though our Italian is less than adequate. We ordered a "Milanese Experience" which allowed us to sample many regional dishes, all excellently prepared, full of flavor and memorable. Highly recommend this restaurant when visiting Milan!

The restaurant location is very convenient and easy to find. The only thing we got confused about - the main entrance from the street was closed. We had to go to the side street, where the entrance to the hotel is, and get to the restaurant through the main lobby of the Hotel. The decor is pleasant and for our taste, relaxing. Nice view to the square, the castle and the sunset. The waitress took us to our reserved table right away. We order sparkling water and lemon, and that was served very quickly. The only thing that was strange at this point, counting we are in the upscale, Michelin rated restaurant, nothing was put under the bottle, so table became wet - not a big deal, but... The food was served promptly. Steak Tartar was very good, so the meatballs. Risotto with beef - OK, but just OK. Duck was cooked nicely, but missing some sweetness as for out taste (raspberry and red currant compote would be a nice addition). Octopus was very good. Nice chocolate pastry desert. Good prices.

So for starters we had the beef tartare (amazing!) and the amberjack for appetizers. They were both so delicious. Then for our mains we had the octopus, which was cooked perfectly and melted in my mouth and the duck that was the best duck my boyfriend and I have ever had! I highly recommend eating here if you get the chance! We will be back next time we’re in Milan!

Food is amazing. They should turn down the lights inside the restaurant to improve the ambience. Also some planters with trees or flowers in front of the windows would add to the overall aesthetics.

An excellent dining experience! The staff were very friendly and made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. The Risotto alla Milanese was outstanding — full of flavor and perfectly cooked. Big disappointment! Very unwelcoming atmosphere, you are literally sitting in a hotel lobby. The food is good but far from outstanding. In addition to that it‘s not plated with a lot of love. The service was friendly but very hectic and inattentive. All in all an unpleasant experience.

The service and ambience were great. But for the price the food was very mediocre. The Milanese risotto was very bland. Maybe because we don’t know how it’s supposed to taste like, though for the price we expected something with a bit of a twist.

Totally the best, I had the best experience ever, the staff was super gentle, and kind, they helped me doing a surprise for my boyfriend’s birthday, and it was incredible, after they also gave me the recipe for the polpeta which is a must !!!!

went on a Sunday night. Service was excellent and made me feel welcome. It’s not touristy and ambience is serene I’d not romantic. The wait staff gave me my space til I was ready to order. Food selection is not bad and more importantly was good. Their olive oil and milanese risotto left a deep impression.
