Good food, but bad service. They gave us a table in the open space and then they asked us to move to give it to their friends, without apologies.

We made a booking on The Fork to have a meal at Il Capriccio at 7:30pm on the 19th September 2023. When making the booking the restaurant was showing all time slots were available. We visited the restaurant on the day before the booking & introduced ourselves & we were impressed & made most welcome. However on the night of the booking we arrived at 7:15pm to find there was a large table setup for a party of at least 50 people. We were offered and ordered an aperitif & but despite repeated requests we were unable to get menus and the staff seemed to avoid contact whatsoever. We repeatedly asked staff for menus; it was obvious that the restaurant was over stretched with this large booking. When at 8:15 we asked again to speak to the manager about our table we were advised the delay was our fault, as we had not gone to a table. The only option we were given at this point was to sit some way from the restaurant (which in principle was nice) but impossible to gain the staffs attention if needed. Also they asked if we could all have the same choices otherwise there would be a long wait for each course. At this point we had had enough & decided to leave. While we understand a local booking of this size is important to the restaurant and as a visitor to the area we would have happily changed our booking if we had been asked. Instead we were dismissed & made unwelcome. Should you consider dining here we hope you do not suffer the same awful experience that we had.

+1We picked this restaurant as we wanted to have an Italian fine dining experience whilst on holiday in Vieste. We chose the 6 course chef’s choice taster menu so it was a complete surprise what we got. In fact with the amuse bouche, breads and petit fours it was more like 9 courses. I enjoyed the ceviche however the oysters and raw shellfish was not to my taste. Loved the risotto with mixed shellfish, and the pasta with sea urchin. The service was very good and our waiter spoke good English. It was great value for money and a memorable meal during our stay in Vieste.

We could not have been more pleased with our evening at this restaurant. The service is top notch, and the food was one of the most well executed we’ve enjoyed in Italy. The waiter began by presenting us an iced tray of four fish choices and then suggested was to be a unique culinary high. We were served three dishes all incorporating the snapper of our choice, and each preparation was different, allowing us to appreciate the subtle differences of flavor and the wonderfully creative skills of the chef. A carpaccio with caramelizar onion, a pasta with cooked and raw fish, and at the end a roasted, tender fillet of our snapper served atop a purée of potatoes and porcinis. No sauces to mask the exquisite flavors—just a truly fresh, fantastic ultimate foodie feast. Mile grazie!!

You can go fancy here if you like. But also, you can simply pick among good delicious dishes for reasonable price, considering the quality and care put into the preparation.
