First, we appreciated that the restaurant picked us up down in the town square. The restaurant has wonderful ambience. It was a little chilly so we sat inside. Very helpful and attentive staff. Most outstanding was the food. We loved the caprese salad and the pork ribs. Both were exceptional. Definitely a spot you should try as it is very different than most other restaurants we ate at in Italy. Would definitely return!

when I made the reservation I didn't realize how far out of town the restaurant was. A local offered to call the restaurant and they sent staff to pick us up very quickly. They even brought us back into town. The food was amazing with beautiful presentation. The staff were very nice and helpful.

This was such a beautiful place to eat. We are six ladies traveling across Italy and this was my favorite restaurant so far. The food was fresh and flavor excellent. The staff was friendly, helpful and never rushed us. They also have a cooking class that I wish we had taken. If staying down in Monterosso, it is a 10 minute taxi ride. Well worth the trip. There is a beautiful view of the sea.

Restaurant has most amazing view. But the view is free from Monterosso. The food was very disappointing: Tasteless salty overcooked octopus, Eight anchovies - local delicacy - at cost of €18 - not the best one. Overcooked very salty pasta with uncooked prawn on the top - absolutely inedible and very salty gnocchi with one prawn. Michelin size portions with the taste of cheap Chinese takeaway.

Samantha our server was wonderful. We had a party of 7 and the atmosphere was amazing, the service was outstanding and our food was amazing as well. The big hits were the tins and the grilled meats. The appetizers were really tasty/ the cheese and meats , the anchovy mix and the octopus - were all really fresh and very tasty. Samantha was super nice and helped us call a taxi back to our hotel. Highly recommend.

Beautiful ambience - view is gorgeous from wherever you are seated. Food was good though would have tasted better with added seasoning . Service could be more gracious but may have been due to the busy night. A bit of a trek but they offer car service to and fro central location.

Wonderful atmosphere and food! Wish we could go back to try more dishes! Highly recommend trying this restaurant if you are nearby it’s definitely worth the drive up the mountain.

In short: we ended up with mixed feelings - fantastic location, good food, sub-par service. Long version: the view is amazing and is what probably lures people in. The food is good, we can't say anything bad about it but what drags this place down is service. The staff probably would be happier if left alone and not bothered by the customers. Pity as overall the restaurant has a lot of potential.

Lovely atmosphere, good service, decent food, just what I was hoping for. I Might book a reservation a little earlier to enjoy the views as it was dark for most of the meal but, it was extremely enjoyable non the less.

Il Ciliego had a beautiful view and delicious food. Not overly busy this time of year (May). They were welcoming to our two young daughters. We would love to return!
