Good food. service was a little slow, but they were polite. one pasta dish was forgotten, but it was soon remedied.

Years ago, I had surgery in the hospital around the corner, where the food was excellent. Then I got discharged and stayed with the sisters next door to the hospital for two weeks of recovery. The sisters fed us breakfast, but for other meals we had to fend for ourselves, and that is how we discovered Il Focolare. For two weeks we ate there every day - except when they were closed. That was ten years ago... We have been coming back every time we have been anywhere near to Rome. Need I say more? Everything is just perfect, and not a tourist in sight.

There were five in our party. Four of us were very happy with our food, especially those of us who ordered the ravioli, which was delicious. One person in our group got his veal (?) Milanese very late, almost after everyone else had finished eating --- perhaps it had to be brought down from Milan? We had made a reservation and were seated in the sun porch area, which was fine, but maybe it would have been nice if we had been given a choice of seating such as inside or outside.

Il Focolare is a wonderful restaurant in the heart of Monteverde. The welcoming, friendly staff and excellent food, never disappoint. ???? And the prices won't hurt your pocketbook. Enjoy!

the food was wonderful. i was able to get a seat despite the fact that fork website on 2 separate occasions did not inform the restaurant of my reservation. I will definitely return the restaurant however I won't use fork service to book any restaurants again.

Fantastic restaurant with wonderful staff who are eager to help and recommend the best dishes. Friendly, neighborhood restaurant, very popular with locals . Excellent pizza but they also excel with the frittura, primi, and secondi (I had the steak and it was perfect). The zabaglione is made at the table by the waiter. We didn’t have it but will - when we return in two days!
