Not for fun. We made a 7 pm reservation and were told upon arrival the restaurant did not open until 7:30. We drank at the bar until 7:30. When I went to tell the receptionist we needed 10 more minutes to finish our drinks, I was told our table was not available. Given the empty restaurant, we arrived at a table. Very pretentious wait staff. Extremely unfriendly staff. We didn’t feel like we could have a conversation.

We were so pleased to find this authentic Italian restaurant in the heart of Cortina D’Ambrezzo on a Saturday night. Atmosphere is A+ as it looks out onto the high peaks, especially if you sit by the window or on the outdoor patio. The service was also incredible as the servers were right there to attend to any of our needs. And the food was very good and incredibly fresh.

The food was delicious, our waiter Pablo was delightful, HOWEVER, the Maitre’d was rude and uninviting. Made the reservation at 6:00 pm for a 7:00 pm reservation. When we arrived, the Maitre’d/Manager greeted us and sat us in a corner table. We ordered wine and a pasta dish to share. Which we thoroughly enjoyed, while determining if we were going to order more food, that is when the Maitre’d, (rather than our waiter) came over to take the order, and when we said we were deciding, that is when he said “what no food, we are fully booked, you need to change tables”, then went over to our waiter made several hand gestures, and stormed off. Our waiter then came over to take our order, at which time we ordered a dessert (only because my husband had been looking forward to his nightly sweet treat all day!), but not because we wanted to stay one minute longer in this establishment, The dessert came, we paid the bill and left. We were exiting this restaurant at 8:10. The prices of this restaurant do not reflect a “fast food” restaurant. This was our first impression of Cortina dÁmpezzo after a long travel of day. We were sadly disappointed. If they were “fully booked” (by the way, there were three tables occupied the entire time we dined), we would have preferred they not take our reservation one hour before our arrival. Also, this Maitre’d was rude to other guests shortly after we arrived stating the same comment “we are fully booked” when they asked to be seated at a table other than the one they were being directed to. There are other places to dine with good food and far better hospitality! I later discovered other internet reviews reflecting the same temperament with the Maitre’d.
