My meal of sea bass with potato cream sauce and artichoke was bland and barely room temperature. The artichoke half was dry mostly inedible, the fish flavorless. Our grilled vegetables lacked seasoning. My husband’s meal of tuna tataki was acceptable but nothing special. The service was efficient but lacked a hospitality. I can’t imagine how this restaurant has had the reputation it had in the past based on current performance. My worst meal in Sicily.

Mi spiace che la sua esperienza non abbia soddisfatto le sue aspettative. Non capisco come mai non ci abbia segnalato subito i problemi che ha riscobtrato, avremmo potuto cercare di lasciarla soddisfatto. Lei si chiede come sia possibile che abbiamo questa ottima reputazione. Lo chieda alle cebtrinaia di oersone che giornalmente ci vengono a trovare a vanno via felici con un ricordo meraviglioso del nostro ristorante. Grazie comunque per esserci venuto a trovare.

7.5/10I suspect one of the main reasons people book this restaurant is the hope for a view of the temples lit up at night. Very few tables and guests will have this option so then to the food. The chef is clearly trying to make upscale dishes. Our meal was good, but not outstanding, nor a great value for the prices charged.

Fabulous views, great table outside with view of the temples. Great food, although felt service was a little rushed and staff a little unwelcoming compared to other places we have visited. Car park is challenging unless you arrive in time to get a space facing the road.

5/10We were disappointed in the quality of the food. After ordering the food come to us in several minutes. A bad sign. The crunchy black cod dish was very dry, obviously just warmed up and not cooked fresh.

e se siamo lenti c’è un problema. se siamo veloci c’è un problema. se il pesce è umido dite che è troppo ‘fishy’. se è cotto il giusto è ‘overcoocked’. Prima o poi riusciremo a trovare la quadra per voi palati sopraffini. Vi vogliamo bene, sempre e comunque ❤️

4/10First, The view is particular especially during sunset . But that is probably the only positive experience. Service is inattentive and unprofessional. The staff not interesting to recommend any thing about the menu as if they are working at Day one. Lack of smile all the time. The wine was served unprofessionally. But , when compared to food , all these seems forgivable. Starter: the raw seafood( tuna and red prawn was ok , but the sauce and pudding seems no logic in the matching . Pasta dish are the only acceptable one. The second plate were really disastrous. Tuna tatami was overcooked without moist . COD is tasteless and very chewy. the rack of lamb was really terrible , very unprofessionally prepared like boiling in water for an hour, 100 percent overcook and non tender very doubtful quality meat , sauce was awkward . Well , the aqua and wine were ok , at least. The worst dinning experience in Italy or in my decades of travelling!

10/10We were visiting the historic Valley of the Temples and looked for a dinner reservation. Il Re di Girgenti (the king) was highly recommended and we were lucky enough to reserve a table. We were seated overlooking the temples, which was magic, as was the staff, service, food, wine, ambience and view. The setting will never be forgotten but the meal and evening, in its entirety, was equally memorable. The service was seamless, and made for an outstanding experience. Sadly we will be unlikely to return to Il Re di Grigenti. We do have fantastic memories and can only recommend it highly and hope you enjoy a similar experience.

6/10The service was very good and the wine selection fantastic. Unfortunately the food was just okay and the gluten free pasta was the worst we have had in Sicily. We’d grown accustomed to very good and even home made, but this was out of a box and poorly cooked. Very disappointing considering the cost.

10/10Excellent food and very attemptive service. We asked for a table with a view to the Valley of the Temples monuments that were illuminated and they put us in a terrace at the third floor which was great,. This combination (food, service and view) made this the best dinner of our trip to Sicily.

8/10Pasta with shrimp for Euro 22 had 5 or 6 tiny shrimp…and for Michelin rated restaurant very ordinary tasting. Gnocchi with pesto I’ve had a lot better in Amalfi. Cantaloupe salad was great. Parmigiana del re (eggplant) was outstanding. On the whole …OK

6.5/10View of the Temples was very nice. However, a 4 Euro coperto per person at a Michelin rated spot? Also, the food was cool when brought to the table and not very impressive. We have dined at plenty in Michelin starred establishments but putting an edible toothpick in a croquette doesn’t make it worth the money spent.

8/10The service and view was excellent (we were the only customers). Unfortunately, the food was just not good. The bread and olive oil was the best course. I can only assume that fish is hard to get during the slow season? I would expect the food to be better during the busy season. Neither seafood dish was fresh. As a fisherman, I have caught and prepared both meals that we ordered, and would through out what was served to us. We were really bummed out.

5/10Promised much but disappointed. The meal started well but we experienced quite a delay in getting our main courses. The other couples in the restaurant seemed to have a better and more expeditious experience, which was a little perplexing since we arrived first. When our main course finally arrived the food was lukewarm and cold, which led to a particularly disappointing experience.

9/10The view of the Valley of Temples at night at a table by the railing is magical. Food was good but not great. Cod, snapper, tunaand gnocchi were ordered. Gnocchi was a bit overcooked. Cod was done in a red beet something that made it look like I was served a bloodline. I was not. Tuna was very good but lacked a bit of seasoning…something to punch it up. We would go back and try other dishes.
