Booking was easy. Staff pleasant. Ordered sea bass with crispy potato topping and tomato sauce. As is usual in Italy it comes alone without vegetables but fish was a little dry and the amount of sauce very inadequate. My partner ordered lamb chops which came with salad leaves. There were three huge hunks of meat which he described as nice. The hotel restaurant is lacking in atmosphere: bright lights and hard surfaces make it look and sound unpleasant.

The pasta dishes were very good and tasty. The lamb had a lot of fat on it. The waiter was in an awful rush and tried to remove our plates mid dinner, I explained that we had not finished yet. He returned to remove my plate before I had a chance to finish the salad. For dessert we ordered a Zuppa Inglese and it did taste of Alchermes and was delicious. Wine selection is good, we chose a Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.

Hotel restaurants are seldom cosy and attractive and the Sangallo makes no exception, with a plain ambiance that borders canteen level. However, the food is good even if rather simple, the portions generous and fairly priced. The waiter was kind but prone to forget the orders, which had to be reminded. Not a bad experience but I would not repeat it
