The main dish was disappointing, it was the “plat du jour” and usually it should be the best dish outside the menu. Well. It wasn’t. It should have been risotto agli scampi but actually it was a kind of sticking couscous with a bitter sauce ‘homardine’ on top and few scampis. My brother (that normally likes eating) couldn’t finish the plate. When I kindly pointed out that it would have been better a risotto the waiter didn’t even replied. The boulettes kefta were full of sauce, the meat wasn’t good. My daughter left them. Not bad my scampi but it was supposed to be a brochette, it wasn’t. The thon in panko was eatable. When we arrived we asked where to eat and they told us wherever you want. But there weren’t table for four prepared outside so we Had to arrange two tables together. No help from them. Ambiance not top. Noisy outside on Chatelain, decor-wise could be revised. (Some lousy bulbs switched off on huge vases?). To end, 7 euros for a bottle of still water! this is Brussels, I would have asked for a caraffe of water, as in Paris

Portions where small, presentation was average, tuna didn’t smell fresh… the chocolate on the dame blanche was some kind of cheap syrup… so the quality of the food wasn’t there, and let’s not even talk about the price quality ratio which is absolutely shameful! too bad because decoration and ambiance is really nice.

An intimate restaurant with a small but delicious menu. Attentive staff, and a relaxed atmosphere. Good cocktails too. Perfect for a relaxed evening.

Good entrées ruined by a horrible main dish (the salad was genuinely not edible). The full place also smelled like fried food which was very unpleasant. Wouldn’t go back there again.

Hi Steph, Thank you for your feedback but I’m quite shocked about your review. First of all we strive to serve our clients the freshest ingredients so a “horrible salad” seems a bit extreme. But please do give us another chance. I’m sure you’ll have a different story.

I’ve been wanting to try Joseph for quite some time. Finally did it. The food was good (tuna tartar & veg burger)…but, the juice from the portobello mushroom made the bun really soggy. Chef’s dilemma: you want the mushroom juicy and delicious…but not at the cost of a perfectly toasted, delicious bun! The service started and ended great. We did have a long wait for food which we were told was due to missing one staff in the kitchen. It happens. We were offered a limoncello after dinner drink to compensate for the wait for our food. This was a nice (and usual) touch. The menu seemed old and plastic…not the regal touch I was expecting from the bold blue and gold decor. With the gorgeous decor and the history of the owner (Rouge Tomate, Eleven Madison Park/NYC, etc.), I was expecting to be more wowed. Still, a good option in a great neighbourhood. Recommended…maybe next time ‘Highly’!
