Really nice atmosphere and the personnel were super kind and attentive despite how crowded the restaurant was. Good choice of food but it's a shame about the unseasoned rice and the stale bread.

The atmosphere of the restaurant was very relaxing and pleasant. We received excellent, but unobtrusive, service. All our needs were attended to without being overbearing. The food was delicious. I had the Quenelle Pike and enjoyed it very much. Honestly, we chose to make a reservation because the restaurant was open on Sunday. What a lucky choice it was for us.

Fabulous little dig in the old town! Staff were helpful, food was beautiful and the room was warm and cosy!

Great food, warm staff, fantastic experience

Maybe glowing reviews from other patrons have led to excessive footfall that has gone to their head, but we received extremely rude behaviour from the proprietress and the food wasn’t much to write home about.

We read a few good reviews of this bouchon in Lyon. We wanted authentic Lyonaise food, so I tried the quenelle de brochet, it was just too over cooked and dry- quite disappointing. The worst part of our evening- the screaming Manager rushed to our table ! What was our offense? Placing some chicken bones in the bread basket! Our kind waitress removed all of our dishes, including the messed up basket, as we awaited our dessert. Well, the Manager gestured to bring it right back to the table. We saw her actions and anger. My husband said to remove it & the scared waitress couldn’t. Manager came to us & screamed in front of everyone in French… to no understanding of us English speaking tourists. All this over a cheap small bread basket- a mistake on his part, as my husband pointed out. I don’t care to worry if she was having a bad night- this was the worst treatment I’ve ever seen toward a customer! Don’t go there

L'Auberge des Canuts was one of the few traditional Bochon restaurants in old town Lyon that offers dinner earlier than the usual 7pm, so we made a reservation for 6pm dinner. The service was outstanding and we were able to communicate to our server in English. I wanted to try an authentic Lyon specialty so I chose the Quenelle baked in a casserole with crayfish sauce. It was heavenly! My husband had the Beef Confit which he loved. We had a small bottle of local Beaujolais wine which was delicious. We highly recommend L'Auberge des Canuts!

limited menu choice and not that memorable. Nothing to suggest it is one if the better bouchons in Lyon

Polite friendly and attentive service and great Lyonaise food

To eat at the foot of the cathedral was such a vibe! It was peaceful with the bells tolling every once in a while. The food was light, satisfying, and delicious! We had the salade lyonnaise, tarte à l’oignon, marinated salmon, sausage in brioche. It’s simple food with lots of salad. The waiters were attentive.

Tasty food, too crowded...too many people in that room. We've meet a group of 8 noisy man drinking a lot and very very noisy for that smallspace. The waitress failed to give the right order for one of us!

It was great Lyonnaise food and the waiter that served us was incredibly attentive and also was great at recommending wine. The rest of the staff was terrific. The interior is beautiful with old world beams on the ceiling and a nice ambience. And it was open on Sunday, which was great

Very good food, price and attention. Good kids menu

Food, including the quality, plating and naturally, taste, is always the top priority followed by service and then lastly, ambience. After all, when the meal is over, the ambience is of less importance while service, good or bad, can compliment the meal or ruin it. That wasn't the case here with 3 people running around a lot. One in particular, male, was quite friendly though I wish he didn't keep sneezing before touching bread and other food. The food was of good portion, nice local traditional dishes and a fair value-for-money. Certainly an enjoyable one-time evening but not one to repeat.

Everything about our lunch was exceptional! The cuisine, the ambiance and the very helpful waiter. We chose traditional Lyonnais options and were delicious! I cannot recommend this enough! 5 star and one of our favorite meals on a 2 week holiday in France.

Excellent service provided by Luc. His wine suggestions were great and well paired with the plates. For us, it was the best bouchon experience so far in Lyon

Enjoyed the surrounding, the weather and the good food

I believe this restaurant is resting on its laurels. Based on other reviews, I believed this would have been far superior. The beef cheeks were fatty tough , greasy and nondescript. The quenelles dried up, and there was no sauce. The service was extremely slow, although pleasant. I would’ve expected more out of a Lyonnaise staple.

My wife thoroughly enjoyed her meal! I had tripe. I know know that I am not a big fan of tripe which isn't the bouchon's fault. It was well presented and the service was on point. Great experience. Highly recommend.

This is a tourist trap. The staff was kind, but not helpful in making recommendations. The food was mediocre. They were out of our first pick for a main course, and the next one we picked was not what we expected.

Food was great with good portions. We particularly enjoyed the Salade Lyonnaise, Quenelle de Brochet and Oeuf en meurettes.

The food was quite good but the problem was the limited selection when some menu items were not available, unfortunately the ones we were interested in. The server was nice but probably had a cold or allergies so he kept sniffling during the order conversation which is unacceptable. The environment of the restaurant is quite pleasant, although a bit cramped, so passing guests and staff still rub against the back of the chair - I recommend places near the walls and in the corner, not in the aisle between the tables, refuse such a place.
