We made a reservation for Sunday night 2 months before our arrival, and the reservation was accepted by the restaurant, and when we showed up we learned that the restaurant is closed on Sunday’s. Had to scramble to find somewhere else to eat.

Delicious plates and attentive staff.

The restaurant is well located and easy to find. We were welcomed and although we had a reservation there were no tables outside which would have been our preference. We were however seated in a nice corner table inside which was very pleasant. The service was very attentive throughout the meal from a team of experienced waiters. The food was excellent and they also had a very extensive wine list which was quite reasonably priced. The local singer entertaining around the tables who had done his rounds on the cruise ships in his younger days really made our evening even more enjoyable.

Wonderful atmosphere, service was impressive and the food ; the truffle pasta is amazing-definitely order it. The sea bass was well prepared with a lemon sauce. The tiramisu and profiteroles are excellent. Try the local red ; Lacrima Cristi

We enjoyed our experience at La Lanterna. My husband and I were returning here after 20 years and it was a restaurant that had been special to us on a few previous visits to Sorrento. We had the chateaubriand for 2. The steak was cooked beautifully (medium) and the bearnaise sauce was one of the best I've tasted. The potatoes were delicious and cooked with rosemary. The only criticism I have is the accompanying vegetables. Some of these were tough and I just didn't feel that they had been prepared lovingly or with much thought. The ambience was nice and the staff were attentive.

The plce is charming with a lovely side terrace and the food delicious (best pizza Ive had in a very long time, my friends pasta and meat were also very good) and not overpriced. What really made our experience memorable was the staff. Every single one of them (Roberto, Simone, Jacob, Angelo, Jean Luca and Toni) was charming, taking photos, attending to all our needs with lots of smile and polite conversation. We even got a free glass of prosecco since it was my birthday. 10 out of 10

Amazing! The food was so good and so fresh! It’s tucked back into a little side street and it’s a beautiful little place. Definitely eat here!

Food was fantastic! Waiters were very professional but not that friendly unfortunately. We had several different waiters and they all seemed to be in a bit of a hurry.

We reserved a table at our hotel's recommendation which was close by. The service was excellent with friendly staff, food delicious and lovely atmosphere included being serenaded with acoustic guitar. It was our last night and was a perfect end to our holiday. Definitely recommend.

We had excellent service! We had received a message from The Fork saying our reservation could not be fulfilled. But we stopped by the restaurant this afternoon and the host said they absolutely could honor our reservation. So glad we checked! Food was good. I’m still not use to people smoking in restaurants, even if they’re sitting outside. So that was one drawback. Would return though. We both enjoyed our food. Especially the lemon sorbet!

+1very enjoyable meal at La Lanyerna. We booked a table due to the Easter festivals and walked in, straight to a table, no problems. The waiters were fantastic with the kids, the food was some of the best we have had in Italy. Very friendly, excellent food, just a pity we are not here for longer or would be back this week. It just means we will have to come back.

We had a big group and found the wait staff to rush us into ordering, be a bit abrasive at times but overall, it was a nice evening. Food was good (but not excellent). Musical entertainer (guitarist and singer) was a nice touch and the free limoncello at the end was a nice way to finish our meal. Would give our meal an 8/10.

Back here after 29 years! Food and service still absolutely superb. Will not leave it another 29 years before we come back. Special little restaurant.

We first visited around 30 years ago. Sorrento then was a charming Italian holiday destination. La Lanterna was then a delightful family run restaurant. On revisiting we were amazed how busy it was and the waiters were running and frantically trying to keep up with the volume of customers. The tables were crammed together and it was not a relaxing experience at all. The food we had was of a good standard and served promptly. The wine also very pleasant. We felt for the waiting staff who were working so hard to cope with the huge volume of customers. We must embrace change but not to the detriment of quality and ambiance.

Ordered the pork medallions which were overcooked, tough and tasteless. The potatoes were bland and uninspiring. I had high hopes because presentation was nice enough.

Christian, the maître d’hôte, is a true charm. He made sure we got a table outside even though there wasn’t much room anymore. Great ambience. The musician playing classic Italian melodies is a nice touch. The food was delicious.

The food is excellent! We went twice in our stay in Sorrento. The host at the entrance was very nice, he managed to get us a table even when the restaurant was already fully booked :) We tasted the tagliata, lasagna and carbonara and everything was delicious! They also have a singer going around the tables playing guitar and singing Italian songs, I absolutely loved him! I highly recommend, the best one we went to in Sorrento! :)

If you are looking for fine dining this is not the place. Make sure you sit outside. Inside screaming children, strollers, bright lights. Want to rush you through. Food was good but a tourist restaurant.

The best meal in Sorrento

The restaurant is right in the middle of the big tourist area. Convenient if you want to dine while shopping. The food was not exceptional by any means but good. The service was excellent. We were a large group and were treated like special guests.

Great restaurant in the heart of Sorrento, reasonably priced for the area with fantastic service. Highly recommend for families.
