10/10I happened to be on holiday in Barcelona over my birthday and chose to celebrate it at Lamalva for a classy lunch. I specifically selected Lamalva from the Fork for its dietary choices, namely organically sourced ingredients and gluten free options. The restaurant is in an upmarket area of Barcelona, further adding to its appeal. Although the 3 course lunch set menu took awhile, the staff was so polite and kind and treated me to a tea at the end and a lovely glass of sparkling wine for my birthday. The waiters were very conscientious about my dietary requirements, checking everything with the chef first and making necessary adjustments. The beef, although slightly chewy, was quite tasty with delicate salt flakes. The Waldorf salad was both lightly sweet and refreshing. The dessert option I was able to have was a small bowl of minced fruit, but it was a nice pallet cleanser nonetheless. I opted for the additional cocktail of the day to round off my set menu -an aperol spritz. Thanks!

+2We had the romantic menú. The food was good in terms of quality of ingredientes and preparation, however almost all dishes had a sauce, which resulted a bit tiring. We thought that the chef might be French 😆 We loved the prawns tempura, the mini tartare and the scallops with mango mayo. Also the octopus was well cooked and the chipotle sauce was nice. The pasta was ok, the taste of the truffle was weak and the rigatoni a bit too covered in sour cream - we suggest that a Parmesan sauce made with some truffled oil would work better (I am Italian 😉). The service was decent even though it would have been better to have the same dedicated waiter. It took ages for the dessert (delicious!) to come but they offered us free coffee which was a really nice gesture. The ambiance was nice but the temperature a bit too cold. It took a while before I could feel comfortable without the jacket.

9/10I liked the decor. the service was friendly. The food was not that great. The corn soup was bland. The rice with squid in black tinta was white rice which was very dry and tasteless.
