6.5/10Celebrating a big birthday we looked for somewhere exceptional to have dinner while staying in Cagliari. We spent some time researching this and online reviews indicated that Le 2 Isole would fit the bill with an unique take on traditional dishes and a chef who cared about customers and the food prepared. We were greeted nicely to an empty restaurant (understandable as we were there at opening time). The menu was either tasting or A La Carte, but apparently you had to have two courses whether you wanted/needed them or not. We had what I would call Spaghetti Scoglio (with shellfish) which was fine, but nothing extraordinary and a bit thin on decent sized prawns in my humble opinion and experience (it is one of my favourite Italian dishes so I have enjoyed many versions over the years!). Too many bits of inedible legs and small claws from the couple of langoustines and small prawns hardly worth the effort of shelling for the little meat inside. Yes, I am being picky, but this is a relatively expensive restaurant setting itself out as exceptional. This was followed by steak with mushrooms for me and tuna with pistachios for my wife. The tuna was large and potentially tasty, but over salted and overcooked, the steak was good quality meat, but had not been charred and tasted as though lemon had been added to the mushroom sauce. Sadly this rendered it pretty tasteless and disappointing. We had ordered side dishes of grilled vegetables and received two plates of some slices of courgette and aubergine. Again very disappointing and not even remotely in line with what we received at other restaurants on the island which were considerably better priced. There are so many vegetables that could be used to make this side dish interesting and flavoursome, we are curious as to why this restaurant is so limited in its produce. We had a bottle of the local Vermentino wine which was pleasant. The service by the young lady looking after us was attentive and bright and was a highlight. She should get recognition from the owner for her very positive and cheerful character! However, despite having let them know in advance that we were celebrating a big birthday, there was absolutely no recognition of this at any time - again this is in stark contrast to other restaurants we have enjoyed over many years where at least a it has been acknowledged at the door and perhaps a little pudding or cake with a candle has been produced at the end of the meal to celebrate. Is this an unreasonable expectation? Given the performance of other restaurants and even pubs which have clearly understood the concept of customer enjoyment I really don't think so, but you may, of course, have a different view and experience. This was the most expensive meal we had in Sardinia and possibly the most disappointing in that it really did not live up to what the restaurant sets itself out to be. Hopefully our experience was a one off and maybe Salvatore Chef Cappadonna was not actually in the kitchen but a substitute. We don't know, all we can go on is what we experienced and relate here.

10/10Our dinner at le 2 Isole was so good we just had to go again and made it our last dinner in Cagliari. It was the freshest seafood we have had our whole time on Sardinia. The Chef really knows what he is doing and just as importantly is very passionate about what he does and it shows. The use of all of the wonderful ingredients available to him and his skill and passion turned our meal into a memorable one, no two memorable ones! Do yourselves a favor and go!

10/10We so enjoyed the quality of our seafood and it’s preparation and presentation! A wonderful experience in Cagliari that we would highly recommend to all who love seafood. I’m sure all other options were equally as good !

9.5/10We ordered the pasta with sea food, and really enjoyed it. I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking to eat good pasta from high quality ingredients. The staff was also very friendly and we did not have to wait long to receive our food. Overall great experience.

10/10Great food and atmosphere . The food was excellent. It’s a restaurant worth visiting if you want authentic food. The Tartare di Tonno was a delight and so was the cassata cake. Thank you.

10/10The best vongole pasta I had in Cagliari! The service was great, all the food was delicious, and the decor is super cute. We loved it! Worth the price. Be aware though that they have "rules" (like no single orders of pasta types, we had to be at least 2 people ordering each type).

10/10great discovery. Excellent food with amazing Sicilian dishes like the Capponata, Sardines and the typical sicilian deserts. We will come back for sure. The service was perfect and the chef is very friendly and welcoming. Thank you so much for such a great meal.
