Nice little place in the heart of St. Germain. Well worth a visit. One of the most storied restaurants in all of Europe (not just France!). If you’re a history lover then do a little research before you go. It will make the experience so much richer. Maybe they had an off day on the food the day we went. The escargots was good but not great. The Coq au Vin was flavoursome and gamey but I’ve had better. I had heard so many great things so it didn’t quite live up to expectations in terms of the culinary experience. Worth a visit though! Good food. Great history!

the restaurant is exceptional, in addition to the excellent food, the old and charming atmosphere complements the delight that is the experience, every time I come to Paris I enjoy this delight.

Well it is to be expected that when a restaurant has history and is famous that the food will probably not very special and that is how it is at this restaurant. the tables are very close together and we perhaps stupidly ordered the set menu and it was fairly ordinary. Not bad just ordinary, the service was ordinary too, professional but the restaurant is very busy. I think there are so many amazing places to eat at in paris I would suggest just looking in the door at this restaurant and then eat somewhere else

Food was mediocre. The special recipe chicken is dry and under seasoned. The crepe was heavy.

We were seated in the back of the restaurant practically on top of other guest- did not enjoy location at all- would have preferred main dining area- not sure why that happened because restaurant was virtually empty in main dining

What a great historic place to spend some quality time. This is a busy and great place but the service is personal and very accommodating. We’ll done by all!

The expectation was higher vs the experience! The food is average and relies on the past history. We ordered the days 3 courses menu. It was well presented. In addition; we tried the escargots, yes they were good! Wine list is well balanced. The waitstaff provides frantic and uncomfortable service throughout the visit. Even though we had order the pre-fix menu (starters, main and dessert) the staff insisted on desserts not listed on the menu? They went as far as to suggest dessert was not included! I reminded them of the prefix?? In the many years of traveling; I have never experienced such arrogance. The most unfortunate moment is when you realize the entire staff is in on the scams! The tab reflected €18 overcharged with no explanation. It was questioned… the waiter responded it was dessert… WRONG! The head waiter was asked for “ oh pardon it’s the computer “ WRONG! He tried to convince me it was correct WRONG! At this point it was time to be direct and suggest; you either correct this as per your original menu or I will call the police myself! They now realized this civil client was not going to back down.. so they scurry like a squirrel ???? and printed the correct tab! I shared this long winded experience to forewarn you “THERE ARE MANY AWESOME RESTAURANTS IN PARIS - This is not one of them! And if you do decide to go to this one… keep your math clear and the menu at hand… they will try to scam you… they are all in on it! Cheers ????

Although the history is hard to deny here this place felt more like a tourist trap. The place was understaffed and the waiters while trying hard could. It cover the tables and the wait for food coming was excruciating. This place should be avoided. The food and price are decent but not at the expense of the people being treated like second class citizens. Avoid this place if you want a nice dining experience.

Absolutely horrendous. Most things on the menu were not available. Waiter barely spoke French. The wine we ordered wasn’t available and instead of informing us of that the server brought out one from the same region that cost twice as much and tried to trick us. What a shame. AVOID AT ALL COST.

This was a bad experience. Despite warnings from friends, we decided to give them a chance. Things started with a 15mn wait, then notified that they’re out of 2 of their signature courses. We had oysters, (shamelessly served with outdated bread) and “magret de canard”, (we both gave it just average). Kids had more chance except that French fries were definitely not home made (mentioned on the menu). Finally, the waiter inflated the bill with a 12€ limoncello... the service was worse that the meal, denoting with the reputation of the place. Fancy that he wondered if we were tourists, in the sense that guest satisfaction was not their uppermost concern. We were really thinking that Parisian restaurants were completely done with this persistent practice. Well, today’s experience shows this still exists, even in Cafe Procop. We won’t go back nor recommend this place.

Didn’t meet my expectation at all. Historic place and beautiful interior but food and service was nothing exceptional. Onion soup was cold, had to ask them to re-heat and it was not hot enough even afterwards. Service was ok, it could have been better.

We had a wonderful table. Great atmosphere; loved my 100 day chicken as well as the crêpes grand marnier. The Maître D gave us some history about the restaurant. Very special evening.

Delicious food and well priced! The setting is beautiful, though we happened to be in what was probably the least attractive room. Most of the restaurant is really very special though.

Nice atmosphere but avoid deserts. Oldest bistro of Paris, nice decorated, though detoriating and missing eye for detail like all lampshades are tilted and higgledy-piggledy. Starters snails good. Scallops good, but overpriced. Main, trout with almonds, was amazing, partner had veal, also good. Deserts were dramatic. Sent back lemon pie (tarte as citron meringue), tasting like raw eggs and bad and chocolate cake (moelleux aud chocolat) not runny and ice cream. Service good and replaced by recommended deserts: tiramisu, which was mediocre at best, too much cream and mascarpone, too little taste. Profiteroles bad, dry biscuit, same bad icecream, though hot chocolate sauce was good and made up a bit. Service working hard and giving their best, but being in hurry sometimes bit like throwing things on the table and not having time to pay extra attention to guests. Picked up isses with desert very well. Mixed public, more hoodies and sweaters than expected. Avoid deserts, don't spend on the expensive courses, and mostly come to enjoy atmosphere and you will be ok.

Estelle greeted us with a smile and found a perfect table for 2. Service was wonderful, not rushed and gave recommendations. The lovely atmosphere and price made the night perfect. No wonder the place is packed on a Tuesday night in November.

Beautiful decor, comfortable and warm. Very intimate feeling for a large restaurant. We have dined here before but it was my husband’s sister’s first experience. It was magical and she was delighted. The food was delicious and everything was prepared perfectly.

Great historic restaurant in the middle of the lively area of St. Germain des Prés. I was afraid that the place would be too touristic but we were really positively surprised by the great ambiance and the real good food. We will definitely go there again on our next Paris trip.
